**Job summary**:
This is an opportunity to work within the Commemorative Events Team in DCMS, leading on the strategic planning a delivery of a complex and high profile programme.

The Commemorative Events Team is a new team sitting within the new Project Delivery and Major Events Directorate in DCMS and is responsible for planning and delivering major projects, events and commemorations. Most recently the Directorate coordinated the delivery of Their Majesties’ Coronation as well as parts of Her Late Majesty’s funeral.

We are looking to fill two roles:

- Strategy and Governance Lead
- Strategy and Finance Lead

**Job description**:
These roles will lead on scoping and implementing plans for the delivery of national major commemorations. These programmes include a range of workstreams from funding programmes, to working through community and voluntary sector bodies, to commissioning educational and communications materials.

It is likely you will be working to help deliver a complex Programme, and should be comfortable working at pace and to tight timescales.

These challenging and exciting roles will involve lots of working with other government departments, delivery partners and stakeholders. Some of the key tasks will include:

- Scoping out plans for future major events and commemorations to develop delivery options and models
- Working with HMT to secure any funding required, preparing a business case and preparation for Spending Review
- Design and implement efficient and effective governance structures to track and monitor planning progress
- Lead the implementation of plans for future commemorations
- Financial and budget management
- Development of comprehensive Business Case and management of the process
- Building strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Briefing Ministers and senior leaders on progress, risks and issues.

**Person specification**:
Essential Requirements:

- Strong organisational skills and experience of working in a cross cutting role and/or on a variety of projects with clear demonstrable outcomes;
- A critical and creative thinker able to come up with solutions to complex problems. Ability to think strategically and see the bigger picture;
- Experience of working in a governance or project delivery environment including demonstrable experience using governance frameworks or project management techniques;
- Relationship building skills and experience/ aptitude for working with senior stakeholders and influencing and negotiating with others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels

Desirable Skills:

- Financial/ Budget Management experience including understanding or experience of Business Case development.
- Experience of delivering nationwide programmes with a high public profile
