Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Officer - Highways.

Working largely unsupervised, the post holder will be responsible for the street works inspections for both planned and emergency works on the Islington network. They will take responsibility for the technical processes relating to delivery of activities carried out by a wide range of works promoters, such as inspecting, monitoring, reporting, safety audits and management of the network under there direct supervision.

Required to undertake several diverse specialist or technical activity assessments and make decisions based on those assessments, take responsibility for the technical processes relating to service delivery for activities such as inspecting, monitoring and reporting of activities on the highway by statutory undertakers, developers, builders and the like, ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation, statutory frameworks and safe systems of work.

Accountable for the day-to-day Network Management Duties, enforcement and recovery of all financial obligations associated with the role.
Demonstrable achievement in education, training, experience and professional development.
Is the holder of a New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA) Supervisory accreditation
Experience in a Street Works Inspection Role and In particular, the Highways Act, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
Has extensive knowledge and experience of working with the New Roads and Streets Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004 and The Road Traffic Act 1991. Be conversant with the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8, Highway Code and the London Permit Scheme LoPs
Experience of working with service user groups giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the services available, work practices and processes relevant to the role.
A good level of IT skills with a good knowledge of MS Office and IT databases, and in particular the councils preferred Street Works Management System.
