An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Advanced Musculoskeletal Podiatrist (Orthopaedics / Rheumatology)
The role is for 32 hours per week on a permanent basis.
An Enhanced DBS with Adults' List check will be obtained during pre-employment checks.
The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
The successful post holder must
- Have experience in managing a highly specialist caseload
- Advanced Musculo Skeletal (MSK) assessment skills to enable the post holder to accurately diagnose and manage all foot and ankle conditions
- Have skills to cast patients’ feet, in foam impression boxes to achieve a negative cast, that can be manufactured in a non-computerised laboratory
- Advanced clinical skills to write prescriptions for advanced bespoke orthotic manufacture
- Skills to manufacture advanced bespoke orthoses from a prescription, using a non-computerised laboratory
- Advanced skills to offload and manage patients with high-risk foot complaints & complex foot issues with orthoses and footwear adaptations
- Travel between all hospital and community WWL sites
- Always promote a professional image of the service
- Desirable to be able to administer cortico-steroid injections either independently or under a PGD
- Desirable to be able to assess and prescribe specialist footwear either independently or along-side the orthotis

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- Link with the Rheumatology consultants and their team
- Link with the Orthopaedic consultants and their arthroplasty practitioners
- Work along-side the CATS MSK team across all hospital and community WWL sites
- Participate in appropriate meetings that are pertinent to the role
- Be an active member of the Northwest Clinical Effectiveness groups in Rheumatology, pressure relief and MSK.
- Effectively communicate with patients and be able to convey complex information regarding diagnosis, outcome and treatment planning including understanding any barriers that may be present
- Delegate appropriate work to other staff members that is not appropriate to your grade or role
- Work with their clinical lead to deliver the best service for patient lead care
