The Incident Command Training Support Technician will support and assist the Service Training Centre Trainers, and support facilitation of practical and theoretical training sessions. OTT aims to advise and take strategic direction from the Directorate Leadership Team (DLT) on service training, learning and development requirements in line with current and future community risk management plans (CRMP).

You will be pivotal in supporting the delivery of training, and will primarily focus on assisting the Incident Command training instructors and managers in the design and delivery of mandatory Incident Command Training courses (Wholetime / RDS Recruits).

You will assist in developing incident scenarios using the training department’s software (XVR). You will be responsible for maintaining training equipment, hardware and software, as well as setting up and assisting in the delivery of training sessions.

You will audit and maintain all training department consumables, managing levels according to training planner and spate requirements.

You will be based at our training centre in Worthing and on occasions may be required to work at locations around the county, at neighbouring Fire & Rescue Services or at external training venues such as the Fire Service College.

The role will see outside working in inclement weather at times. The role has an ongoing considerable physical effort to lift or carry items, for example, training equipment.

This role may occasionally be required to support the delivery of other training and assessments, for example, operational exercises, tests of command potential, Crew Manager end of phase assessments.

**Experience and Skills**
Key Skills:

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence the actions of others and communicate complicated or complex information.
- Excellent IT skills to design and develop scenarios and operate Incident Command simulation equipment / software to facilitate training and assessments.
- Ability to work in a customer focused way, providing a high-quality service with a high level of attention to detail while gaining the trust and confidence of customers.
- Ability to quickly assimilate information, consider the implications and encourage others to adopt the most appropriate course of recommended action. Ability to diagnose, analyse and interpret complex information to make effective and robust judgements and decisions.
- Ability to think laterally and to adapt to changing situations in a measured and flexible manner.
- Ability to organise / prioritise work, co-ordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way and meet agreed deadlines.

Qualifications and/or experience:

- General IT background essential.
- Good working knowledge and experience of XVR Simulation and / or 3D modelling software.
- Experience of working in a training environment / team.
- Good general IT skills including MS Office.
- Knowledge of training-related software - Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the Fire & Rescue Service Incident Command system - Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of Fire & Rescue Service appliances and equipment - Desirable
