**Job Duties**:

- To triage referrals, assess risk and prioritise for response.
- To arrange, co-ordinate and manage Mental Health Act Assessment referrals and allocate assessments to AMHP’s on duty.
- To be part of a specialist team, that can provide complex advice and information to colleagues and other professionals.
- To undertake safeguarding work.
- Undertake assessments and reviews for people on Community Treatment Orders.
- To liaise closely with acute in-patient wards to enable early identification of people who may need further assessment and detention.
- To provide professional supervision and leadership to “spoke” AMHP’s and student AMHP’s.
- To lead in initiatives of work as the service develops, embedding principles of good practice.
- To be responsible for maintaining accurate, comprehensive case records for interventions and to complete all paperwork in connection with MHA Assessments as may be required by statute, the operating procedures of the service and Professional Codes of Practice.
- To maintain and promote best practice, knowledge and skills for the provision of the AMHP service across the county.
- To ensure all handover communications in connection with referrals and casework is completed to the standard operating procedures within the service.
- To ensure accurate data is recorded, to enable regular reporting.
- To lead the regular programme of audits, which are part of the Quality Assurance process.
- To provide advice and/or training to others regarding the appropriate management and care of adults with mental health needs.

5. To have the ability to manage conflict and operate in high risk and high-pressure environments

7. To demonstrate effective and accurate IT skills to support accurate and timely case recording

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- Registered qualified professional (Social Work, Nurse, OT, psychologist)
- Currently authorised as an AMHP (Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health)
- Extensive knowledge of and be able to apply, a range of complex and specialist legislation i.e. the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Children Act and other relevant case law
- Valid driving licence
- Extensive experience of working independently undertaking MHA assessments _**Essential**_
- Extensive experience of working in Multi-Disciplinary settings. _**Desirable**_
- Experience as an AMHP with extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and mental health social work practice
- Practice Educator Award or commitment to undertake the training (or equivalent)
- Able to demonstrate a proven ability (or understanding of the skills and knowledge required) to work independently as a senior practitioner managing risks and safeguarding
