**Production Planner - Signal Plastics**

Signal Plastics is recruiting for an experienced **Production Planner **to create short and long-term plans to ensure that our moulding production and assembly teams can deliver our customers’ components in line with their expectations and our safety and quality processes. The role comes with a salary of **between £27,000 and £30,000** (depending on qualifications, skills and experience), 25 days annual leave (plus the usual bank holidays), Company Sick Pay, Company

**Who we are and what we do**:
The Omega Plastics Group (comprising Omega Plastics and Signal Plastics) is a plastic injection moulding and tooling business. We provide high quality plastic injection mould tooling, components, assembly and technical solutions on time and with exceptional customer service. We work with customers from product conception through the development cycle and into serial production.

Signal Plastics operates from a 43,500 sq. ft facility on Bentall Business Park in Washington and

Omega Plastics is based in a 45,000 sq. ft facility on Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead, which is also our group head office.

Signal Plastics specialises in high volume plastic injection moulding for the automotive and industrial sectors. We operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week with 14 injection moulding presses ranging in size from 40 tonnes to 1,300 tonnes, some with robot demoulding and packing capability.

The group is growing, with a workforce of over 170 colleagues (from 90 in 2019) across both businesses and we continue to invest in our people, infrastructure and facilities. **Production Planner - Signal Plastics**

**Role and Person Specification**

**Reports to**: Head of Operations

**Working with**:Production Manager; Technical Manager, Materials & Logistics Controller,

Warehouse Controller

**Main duties include**:

- Safety First Environment - Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, behaviour and adherence to procedures and agreed working practices to support the safety and wellbeing of all people in the site including staff, contractors and visitors.
- Produce the output plan - Create production and assembly plans, prioritising appropriately to meet external and internal customer needs. Liaise with NPI and Tooling to understand what trial activities are required. Discuss planned machine downtime with maintenance and factor into plans. Determine staff availability, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand. Consider material content and set up times when planning production runs to minimise scrap and maximise output whilst ensuring we do not overstock.
- Assembly - Plan assembly activity, ensuring works orders are raised for the various sub
- assembly and finished goods activities, measure output vs plan. Work closely with logistics to ensure that build plans satisfy customers' minimum stock requests plus meet upcoming demand.
- Works Orders and Job Performance - Create and issue works orders, debrief and close works orders as appropriate on part or full completion ensuring that correct levels of raw materials and BOCs are consumed and reflected in raw material and finished goods stocks. Monitor job performance and escalate any underperforming jobs to the NPI and Technical Manager for corrective actions.
- React to change - Work with the Production Manager to adjust the plan accordingly if/when there are issues with machinery, people or process. Update colleagues promptly if deadlines may not be met and contribute to corrective action planning.
- Improving Performance - Measure production achievement and present KPI info to the Head of Operations daily, weekly, monthly on performance. Offer to solutions to improve where practicable.
- Cross-functional working - Contribute to daily, weekly, monthly operational and project meetings as and when required, advising colleagues of issues and capacity constraints.
- Capacity & Utilization - monitor capacity, machine utilization and downtime. Conduct studies and advise stakeholders of any matters that may affect service delivery.
- Relationships - Develop long term relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to continually improve internal and external customer experience and results. Work closely with commercial, tooling and finance teams to supply meaningful information to support the group's targets and objectives.
