Project Quantity Surveyor - Roles & Responsibilities

Commercial Management

Taking ownership of the financial management of the project from inception to completion

Cash Flow

Cost to complete

Liabilities

Instructions

Pro-forma invoices

Supplier invoice sign off Subcontractor payments

Monthly CVR reports (month in lieu)

Commercial Team
- appointment and management

Collaboration with directors and owners in putting together financial cost models for new project opportunities

Negotiating contracts

Principal contracts (JCT, NEC etc)

Domestic subcontracts

Supplier contracts

Look to strategically improve procedures by reviewing and developing operational flows, with key stakeholders within the business

Overseeing product development and providing best practice and value for money

Recognising new business opportunities

Offering direction and instruction to directors and department heads

On Site

Provide support to the Senior Site Manager in performance of his duties

Health & Safety Support including CDM

Setting up, standard forms to manage health and safety on site

Review of suppliers and subcontractor health and safety documents

Risk assessment

Method statements COSHH

Site Safety Inductions

Permits to work

Site Inspections

Site meetings

Design team meetings

Subcontractor weekly meetings

Internal meetings with senior management

Document Management

Company Integration

Liaison with department heads

Close working relationship with the company accountant to review the current method of reporting costs and how the site reports and integrates with the same

Prepare a set of procedures to manage that process to ensure that all costs are accounted for
