**Glow Events are proud to be the operator of some of the most expectational wedding and events venues in Kent and are excited to be hiring and growing our experienced team.**

We are looking a part-time, permanent **Caretaker **(pro-rata 20 hours per week).

Variable hours will apply, but will primarily be 7:00am-1:00pm on event days, and work will be scheduled to include weekends and Bank Holidays as required.

Working hours will be a minimum of 20 hours per week with the opportunity to increase significantly during peak-season.

The overall purpose of the job is to take care of the security and maintenance of the venue buildings and to assist in the setup of events when they are running.

We have three venues across Kent including: The Orangery - Maidstone, The Gardens - Yalding and The Castle Westenhanger, Hythe.

**MAIN ACTIVIES**

**Security & Maintenance Duties**:

- Inspecting the building, including heating, cooling, lighting and alarm systems to make sure they are in good working order
- Performing basic repairs and maintenance tasks as required
- Reporting issues requiring major repairs to Senior Event Manager
- Monitoring cleaning materials, tools, and furniture and informing Senior Event Manager of reordering as required.
- Opening building at the start of the day and locking all doors and windows when not in operation.
- Adhering to the company’s safety policies to create a safe working environment for everyone.

**Event duties**:
On an Events day, as part of the logistics team, you will have a key role to play. Responsibilities include:

- Opening the venue ready for the Brides’ arrival and suppliers.
- Ensuring all tables and chairs are correctly placed according to the room layout.
- Placing appropriate linen on all tables ready for catering staff arrival.
- Checking all drinks requirements are ready and chilling down.
- Setting up relevant primary and secondary ceremony areas.
- Setting up drinks reception glassware dependent on requirements.
- Cut Pimm's fruit if required.
- Cutting Bar Fruit.
- Assisting in any other area as required.

On non-events days, where required, you may also be required to organise venue areas such as:

- Clean and tidy storage rooms to ensure all equipment and furniture is kept in a safe and secure environment.
- Tidy external storage areas such as refuse bin yards in order to discourage pests and for the safe movement of external contractors.
- Perform basic internal decoration works as required.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Knowledge and skills**:

- Basic DIY skills and in-depth understanding of maintenance procedures (essential)
- Problem-solving skills for addressing safety and maintenance concerns (essential)
- Organisation, multi-tasking and scheduling skills (essential)
- Customer service skills for positive dealings with building owners and administrators (essential)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for giving instructions to contractors and support crews (desirable)

**Experience**:

- Experience working in a similar caretaking environment (essential)
- Experience in building maintenance, gardening, electrics, cleaning or plumbing (desirable)

**Qualifications and education**:

- GCSE Mathematics and English to a Grade 4 or above (desirable)
- Property maintenance or facilities services operative intermediate apprenticeship (desirable)

**Personal requirements**:

- Work well as a team in a fast-paced setting (essential)
- Work diligently and have a ‘hands-on’ approach to work (essential)
