The NIHR ARC (Applied Research Collaborations) for Northwest London is a five year nationally funded collaborative research improvement programme that will facilitate and accelerate the translation of research innovations into practice across northwest London.
The post holder will provide support to a variety of programme team members. They will work supervised and unsupervised, prioritizing work daily according to needs and priorities of the programme and can communicate routine yet complex project information, status and updates. They will plan and organize meetings, conferences, and events internal and external to the ARC programme.

The post holder will work closely with the Education Lead and Theme Lead to support, plan and deliver Collaborative Learning Events twice a year. They will work closely with the Education Lead to co-ordinate and deliver the NIHR ARC NWL Improvement Leader Fellowship. The post holder will support and deliver research projects within the theme.

Key working relationships
- Core NIHR ARC NWL team and researchers.
- Project teams and fellows.
- Partners including NHS, HEI, Local authority and HEE.
- Bring together clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals with patients and academics to work on improving population health.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnership working with relevant NIHR ARC NWL partners.

The NIHR ARC (Applied Research Collaborations) for Northwest London is a five year nationally funded collaborative research improvement programme that will facilitate and accelerate the translation of research innovations into practice across northwest London. Our organisation is a diverse team of clinicians and researchers who work across boundaries to support education and capacity building in Northwest London.

Roles and responsibilities
- To support the Collaborative Learning and Capacity Building Theme (CLCB) to undertake activities that help build capacity for health improvement and research.
- The post-holder will need to work with individuals, teams and organisations to persuade, influence and troubleshoot, and be capable of dealing professionally with conflict and resistance to change.
- To assist and support the NIHR ARC CLCB Theme in delivering their remit of promoting capacity building, improving the health of the public and research.
- To work with the CLCB Theme Lead, Deputy Theme Lead and the Education Lead to deliver collaborative learning events. This will include project managing logistics for events, pay attention to detail, liaising with high profile speakers and delegate management.
- Actively contribute to teaching across the ARC programme and participate in evaluation of teaching and training within the programme to inform iterative development of the training programmes.
- Demonstrate the flexibility and initiative necessary to cope with rapid, unforeseen changes in plans and demands, this being an inherent element of working with a large project in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan ahead and anticipate the requirements of the NIHR ARC over a wide range of activities.
- Be responsible for sharing information in line with the NIHR ARC NWL programme, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College London policies and legal regulations to provide and receive complex information, to communicate information about the programme in response to a constantly changing landscape.
- Undertake activities to build capacity in other members of the team to develop expertise in research methods and be able to provide teaching /facilitation and support for use of these methods.
- Be responsible for organising, participating and smooth conduct of regular meetings and teaching sessions for Fellows.
- Actively participate in teaching, sharing learning, build a community of practice and support delivery of the collaborative learning events, fellowship, training events and workshops that are delivered in person and digitally.
- To communicate through a variety of formats and media regarding education, training provision, research, and other capacity building activities.
- The post holder will have responsibility to restock general supplies for the ARC office and monitor logistic budgets for events that the ARC team deliver.
- Be aware of financial policies and procedures and act in accordance with them at all times.
- To lead and develop (with support and supervision) ad hoc projects and other development opportunities in line with the post holder’s own interests & expertise and to be able to project manage these projects and developments.

All duties must be carried out under supervision or within Trust policy and procedure. You must never undertake any duties that are outside your area of skill or knowledge level. If you are unsure you must seek clarification from a more senior member of staff.
