**MAIN PURPOSE**

To drive passenger carrying vehicles associated with collecting and returning passengers.

To assist passengers when necessary and to carry out ancillary administrative and other duties related to the post in accordance with Management requirements.

To carry out other non-passenger driving tasks as required by Management.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

To fulfil all statutory requirements and comply with relevant road safety requirements and the Highway Code including Codes of Practice as amended and updated.

To possess a valid an appropriate driving licence for the work required and to be trained to the necessary standard if required.

To be responsible for the safety of all passengers on board the vehicle.

To keep Management informed of any changes that affect entitlement (penalty points etc).

To demonstrate a flexible approach in the undertaking of the full range of duties including differing start and finish times and a range of non-passenger work.

Not to allow any unauthorised passengers to be carried on the vehicles without the prior consent of Transport Management.

To be aware of the special needs of the passenger groups, including those who may demonstrate behavioural problems, to ensure their safety at all times and to report immediately to Transport Management any concern regarding passengers who need medical attention or who appear unwell.

To convey passengers travelling in wheelchairs and to operate all safety equipment (including tail-lifts) in the prescribed manner in accordance with training modules.

To carry out daily defect reporting requirements that include:

- check tax disc, oil, water, fuel, windscreen washers and wipers, condition of tyres and tyres pressures, tail-lift if fitted, ensure that safety mechanisms are working and that sufficient and appropriate safety equipment is on the vehicle for the needs of the passengers, is fit for purpose and in good working order before leaving the Depot.

To report minor vehicle defects to Transport Management using the form provided.

Serious vehicle defects must be reported to Transport Management immediately.

To clean the vehicle on a regular basis both inside and out taking Health & Safety requirements into consideration and in the event of any accidents/incidents to undertake specialist cleaning as necessary.

To drive vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner ensuring that you do not leave the embarkation point until passengers are safely on board and accounted for and that all passengers are safely seated and secured.

To transport passengers without a passenger assistant as directed by Management.

To assist passengers to get into and out of the vehicles and to assist where necessary to their homes and other buildings.

To undergo training and to operate technology as and when required.

To undergo appropriate training to meet the requirements of the differing classifications of passengers as defined by Transport Management.

All incidents involving vehicles, however minor, to be properly recorded by the driver on the appropriate form and reported to Transport Management immediately and to accurately complete driving records as appropriate and hand them in daily at the completion of duty.

To be contactable at all times while on duty and to use the mobile phone or other technology provided as required.

To return all paperwork of a confidential nature to the office at the end of the day/shift.

To ensure that the vehicle is properly secured when left unattended.

To ensure that the vehicle has a first aid box, body fluid retentions kit and fire extinguisher(s), that the first aid box is fully stocked.

To wear the uniform as issued at all times.
