An opportunity has arisen for a Magistrates Court and Custody Practitioner within the Nottinghamshire Liaison and Diversion service. This interesting and challenging post we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have relevant pre and post qualification experience of working with people with a range of vulnerabilities. The is an important role working as part of a multi-agency framework within police custody suites and courts, addressing health and social inequalities.

We would welcome professionals from a range of areas especially intellectual disabilities and mental health.

The posts will cover both City and County Magistrate Court. The roles will have element of working with custody L&D Practitioners to support the strong links between the roles and cohesion between the criminal justice pathway. The role will have a main base in Mansfiled however cross cover forms a part of the contract.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are externa to the trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the trust. this post also includes paid instalments for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays

This role aims to provide an embedded clinical service within the Magistrates Court and Mansfield custody suite delivering screening, assessment and management of vulnerable individuals within this setting.

To provide consultation, advice, support and recommendations to the court, police and criminal justice agencies to help effectively manage defendants range of vulnerabilities.

To provide high quality court reports and referrals to onward services.

To provide a seamless link between health and social care services and the criminal justice service.

To collaborate and work with colleagues working in the police custody suites and Crown Court to ensure that vulnerabilities identified earlier in the criminal justice process are communicated with the court and ensure onwards referrals into appropriate health and social care, prison settings.

To provide awareness/training of Mental Health Treatment Requirements and part 3 of the MHA to partner agencies in collaboration with L&D Team members.

You will be working with individuals who present with complex difficulties and this post offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills andexperience.

The Liaison and Diversion service is part of the Low Secure and Community Forensic Directorate, part of the Forensic Division within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The Directorate has a range of inpatient and community services managed within it.

The service offers supervision and continued professional development opportunities

The court role is 9 - 5 Mon to Friday and Saturday morning. As the role also has an element of working in custody, there will be an expectation of working the custody shift pattern of 8am-4pm : 12-8pm over 7 days a week, inclusive of bank holidays.

Screening and assessing children and adults for a range of social, health vulnerabilities who are in contact with the criminal justice services.

Identifying needs and sharing relevant information with justice agencies to support in their decision making

Supporting onwards referrals and diversion from the justice system where this is appropriate

Supporting people through the justice processes and to access mainstream services
