The Role

The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for improving environmental performance and compliance, handling environmental performance data and reporting, and assisting ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, ISO14001 and ISO 50001.

What you'll be doing

Impact

Business Support
- Provide expertise and guidance on Environmental issues across the UK business.
- Assist maintaining the ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System.
- Assist maintaining the ISO 50001 certified Energy Management System.
- Assist implementing environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and keeping updated with key changes to environmental legislation.
- Assist engaging with key internal and external stakeholders including management, operational staff and external regulators
- Assist with new initiatives and always seeking opportunities to improve and develop environmental performance across the sites.
- Engage with team members on our environmental and sustainability efforts.
- Supporting (environmental support) on Invitations to Tender.

Technical
- Engage with managers, ensuring responsibilities are clear and answering technical environmental related enquires.
- Collate and track environmental metrics, including energy, water, waste, greenhouse gas emissions to measure progress towards sustainability goals and ESG extra financial reporting requirements for the UK.
- Perform a wide variety of analytical, project planning, benchmarking and communication tasks for environmental sustainability projects as assigned.
- Conduct internal audits and site inspections to ensure compliance against applicable legislation, company processes and procedures and environmental best practice.
- Assist providing support, guidance and advise on all environmental matters.
- Assist maintaining the procedures related to environment & waste management and environmental site records according to the regulations.
- Recognising legal and contractual issues and escalate to the Director of HSEQ in a risk proportional manner.

Capabilities

Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to liaise at all levels from Senior Management to Apprentices
- Excellent presentation skills, and clear business report writing.
- A high standard of interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Commitment and confidence to deliver high levels of Environmental performance at all levels.

Proactive and Positive Approach
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and goals in a dynamic environment.
- A flexible approach as this role involves occasional travel around the UK.
- Good time management skills.
- Be a hardworking, confident and resourceful team player.

Experience
- A working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and the environmental legislation and regulations.
- Broad understanding of Environmental topics (such as energy efficiency, climate, water, recycling, carbon foot-printing, etc.).
- Proven track record of analysing, reporting and summarising technical data from various sources and converting that data into meaningful and actionable information for the business.

**Qualifications**:

- IEMA membership (or equivalent from a recognised environmental body).
