The Outfitting Specialist - Catering, Galley & Laundry areas is responsible for inspecting the construction and outfitting of the related areas to ensure that fitting is done according to international regulations, vessel sanitation programs, ShipSan requirements, technical specifications and builder standards.They will control the quality of the materials used and highlight any discrepancies within the approved project. Identifying potential adjustments when they discover minor issues during the construction phase - these may be recorded and shared within the Site team and new building division as lessons learnt to be implemented on future projects.
- Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian or French is a plus;
- A Degree relevant to shipbuilding \/ equivalent qualification or significant relevant experience is required;
- Substantial experience with delivering inspections of catering areas, galleys, bars and back of house including laundries applied on ship’s building and or refitting projects or onboard cruise vessels in operations;
- Good knowledge of piping, electrical and public spaces inspection is a plus as they may be requested to cooperate with the public spaces, crew common & technical space and cabin teams for the daily inspections included within the ship’s construction.
- Experience in a leadership position might be beneficial;
- Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint);
- Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations;
- Ability to review new building specifications and drawings and to read and understand a variety of engineering drawings;
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude;
- Availability to work long hours under pressure and over the weekend when required.
- Following up on multi project activities during final inspections and ships delivery period;
- Frequent travelling is involved;

- Ensures that areas under the described discipline (including external decks) are built within the set timescale and in line with the approved architectural design, contractual requirements and functional requisites;
- Follows the installation and outfitting of all relevant areas maintaining accurate and up to date records of all activities and inspections;
- Attends project meetings and prepares progress reports;
- Ensures that all materials used are compliant and in scope with the specifications and the architectural design, that they are of a suitable quality fit for its intended use, approved by class, relevant authorities such us VSP\/ USPH and SHIPSAN representatives;
- Suggests minor adjustments as may be found necessary on site and follows the implementation and development of any architectural design changes;
- Highlights relevant aspects of the approved design that can be improved for future constructions;
- Involves the Technical Site Specialist(s) during the construction and commissioning phase to ensure that technical accessibility and functionality of equipment is duly verified;
- Highlights relevant aspects of the ship’s design that may jeopardise the functional requirements and must be improved for the current project or can be improved for future constructions with New building department approval;
- Communicates with the shore based Public Health Department as needed regarding MSC SOPs, and decisions that may impact public health onboard;
- Assists with Plan Approval activities as required;
- Reviews inspection reports performed by various Authorities regarding the existing fleet, and raise any concerns if similar opportunities are observed;
- Follows installation, integration and commissioning of any Owner Supply related items within Catering and Laundry areas;VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)
