Band 5 Research Trainee Nuclear Medicine

London, United Kingdom Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Central to the clinical diagnostic service is SAP and DPD scintigraphy, the former being a unique whole body nuclear medicine scan that was developed in the NAC and is not available anywhere else in the world. SAP and DPD scintigraphy allow amyloidosis to be diagnosed non-invasively and monitored repeatedly, thereby guiding patient treatment decisions. To enable this, the centre has two dedicated GE Discovery 670 (16- slice) hybrid SPECT/CT gamma cameras.

A Nuclear Medicine Research Trainee Technician is required to contribute to the provision of a high-quality Nuclear Medicine research service for patients attending the centre. There will be substantial patient contact and interaction with a broad range of medical, scientific, technical and clinical support staff. Previous experience of amyloidosis is desirable but not essential as full specific training will be provided.

The Nuclear Medicine Research Trainee Technologist position is a fixed term post with on the job training that provides the post holder with the opportunity to develop their clinical, technical and research skills required to provide the highest quality clinical care whilst performing Nuclear Medicine procedures and investigations for research purposes within the NAC. The post holder will learn and perform the duties of a Nuclear Medicine Technologist under the guidance and supervision of the Lead and Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
