We are recruiting a Housing Navigator as part of Shropshire rough sleeping and homelessness partnership. The role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team called RESET, delivering support and advice to those rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping and being a key contact and link to Shropshire Council’s Housing services.

The purpose of the service is to support our service user’s holistic needs by assertively engaging and motivating them to access housing, mental health, substance misuse, social care, and employment support.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The role includes:

- Being responsible with others for the effective operation of the RESET Support Service, in line with its policies and procedures, including encouraging a co-operative and supportive environment.
- Assist service users in navigating services being a key contact to the Council’s Housing services including Housing Options, Housing Allocations, Temporary accommodation and the Rough Sleeper team.
- To give initial housing advice and signpost to relevant services.
- Undertake work with those threatened with homelessness to prevent this occurring. Working with landlords, family and friends of the service user to maintain accommodation and assist in resolving any disputes.
- To provide support to service users on actions agreed in Personal Housing Plans or Support plans, that will assist in resolving their homelessness.
- To assist in looking at rehousing opportunities including searching for private lettings, searching on Homepoint for suitable social housing and looking for supported housing when appropriate. To make use of housing IT systems including assisting with regular bidding on HomePoint. To work with Service Users on issues that may prevent a Service User being housed.

9. To assist with outreach, hot spot and partnership visits engaging people sleeping rough from first point of contact encouraging long-term and sustainable change.

10. To assist during periods of severe weather with the provision of emergency housing provision, attending the accommodation with the Rough Sleeper team to supervise and support clients. This may involve working late as part of a rota of staff.
- Listen to Service Users views/needs and integrate them within the RESET project.
- To provide emotional support to service users that are often in difficult circumstances and may need additional support to engage well with services.
- Providing basic Welfare Benefits advice, assisting service users in claiming all benefit entitlements and assisting with accessing specialist support
- Provide information, support, guidance and training to Service Users with low, medium and high support needs to increase their independent living skills i.e., increasing and encouraging independence, budgeting, support in training and education, dealing with tenancy related issues, signposting to specialist agencies.
- Assist Service Users to recognise times when they may require additional support and ensure they have the information required to access support.
- Support more individuals to successfully start, engage with and end their drug and alcohol treatment, either through community-based treatment or inpatient and residential treatment options.

17. Highlighting issues or areas of concern with your Team leader, Regional Manager and/or designated safeguarding lead.

18. Promote and support the mission, vision and values of the company at all times, providing quality services and treating service users with dignity, respect and courteousness.

19. Awareness of and compliance with all company policies and procedures.

20. Ensure familiarity with partner agency policies and procedures when working on their sites with particular regard to Health & Safety, Safeguarding and incident reporting.

21. Identify any learning, development and training needs through regular supervisions and appraisals.

22. Support development and collation of an evidence base through data input and collection.

23. Any other duties appropriate to the role as tasked by Line Manager or Company Directors.

24. Assist rough sleepers and those ‘At Risk’ to engage with Primary Care Services, including registering with a GP to allow support for physical health needs and continuity of care with treatment services.

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
