Support Worker

We are looking for positive and motivated Support Workers to support our two femaleclients who have cerebral palsy. Our clients are twin sisters that live in their own home with theirfamily and have complex need. Shifts will be a combination of day, evening, waking and sleeping nights, with flexibility to cover additional shifts.
Your role will be to support our clients with all activities of daily living, making sure that all their care needs are met. Duties will involve personal care, manual handling, administration of medication, supporting communication, record keeping, therapeutic intervention, maintaining safety at home and in the community, and some domestic duties.
**Principle Duties and Responsibilities**
- To establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship with client, family & case manager.
- To support the client in line with the Support Plan and therapy guidelines.
- To promote, monitor, maintain and promote health, safety and security in the workplace.
- To promote effective communication with all parties.
- To perform a key role in the client’s rehabilitation by following therapists’ instructions and guidance. These will include Speech and Language, Physiotherapy, Neuropsychology, Occupational Therapy guidelines, music therapy and any other professional the client may be referred to.
- To contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
- To liaise with other agencies when required.
- To complete accurate daily records as advised including time sheets, daily records, care plan summary and critical incidents, petty cash and therapy documents.
- To attend supervision, team meetings and other meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer.
- To attend training sessions as arranged and complete on-line mandatory training.
- Assistance with personal care routines.
- Maintain Client’s medical/dental appointments.
- Assistance with transfers and changes of position.
- Assist Client practice using his communication devices.
- Continue to monitor Client’s general health status.
- Assist arrangements for irregular activities such as attendance at music events.
- Support Client with arrangements for a trip away/holiday with family/support.
Continue assistance with planning and attendance of appointments.
**General**
- Observe and operate at all times in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Provide a flexible working pattern, to ensure the smooth operation of service, including working out of core hours, weekends and public holidays.
- To undertake any other duties appropriate and as reasonably required, to meet the changing needs of the service.
- Ensuring service user needs and business objectives are met.
**Person Specification**:
- Have some experience of neurological conditions and working in a community setting.
- Experience of working with client with complex needs is desirable but
- Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
- Self-confidence and able to manage challenging situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational, time management and planning skills, with a commitment to self-management and continuous personal development.
- IT literate. Use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Flexible, professional and positive approach to multi-site working.
- Proven reliability in terms of full attendance and timekeeping.
- Full UK driving licence.
