Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for Refuse/Recycling collector to be part of our team providing waste and recycling services across the Borough. As a Refuse/Recycling collector you be an advocate of the Council with a strong ethos to promote and encourage residents to recycle more and recycle correctly in order to achieve this target together.

You will be responsible for collecting all types of environmental waste including household waste, recycling, and garden waste from domestic and commercial properties, ensuring our borough is a clean and safe environment for all to enjoy.

Your main duties will include following the collection vehicle, ensuring the safe collection, emptying and return of wheelie bins to their collection point. Assisting the driver with the safe manoeuvring of the vehicle, particularly with reversing the vehicle. Assisting other teams where necessary.

To succeed as Refuse and Recycling collector you will be customer focused, building good working relationships with colleagues and customers. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices and be a responsible, integral member of the team.

The hours are 37 hours per week, 07:00 to 16:45 Monday to Saturday. Your standard working pattern will be 4 x 9.25 hour days between Monday to Saturday. You may be required to work additional hours, dependent upon the needs of the service; working weekends and alternate shifts.

Full PPE clothing and equipment will be provided to complete issued tasks.

All relevant training will be provided in accordance to health and safety regulations, and a safe system of work for each issued task.
