Head of Automation

**Are you experienced in the operation of automation systems in the entertainment industry? Can you lead a team and manage a busy department? Can you work collaboratively and creatively with creative teams to deliver outstanding results?**
The RSC are seeking to recruit a **Head of Automation**, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of our diverse programme of work. You will provide leadership and oversight to the Automation department, collaborating closely with creative teams, production managers, technical teams, and senior management.
Reporting directly to the Technical Director, some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and inspire department staff, apprentices, freelancers, and contractors, managing the effective day to day running of the department.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of automation, ensuring teams are fully briefed on project requirements, deadlines, and resources.
- Collaborate with creative teams, production management, and technical teams to integrate automation seamlessly into the artistic vision of productions.
- Represent the department at a leadership level, contributing to strategic decision-making processes and being an active member of Leadership Group.
- Maintain contact with relevant industrial and professional bodies, as well as peer organisations, to uphold industry standards.
- Oversee the management, deployment, and maintenance of automation equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- To oversee the department's design, manufacture, and supply of bespoke control systems, ensuring their successful testing, implementation, and delivery.
- To manage the documentation, storage, refurbishment, and disposal of the control systems and equipment working within budgetary and time constraints
- Collaborate with the Finance Business Partner, Production Management team and Technical Director to ensure effective financial management. Maintain knowledge of current relevant Health and Safety legislation and other legal requirements.
- Comply with OSH Policies.
This a full time, permanent position, based in Stratford upon Avon, although some travel to other sites and venues in the UK and elsewhere will be required. You will be working an average of 48 hours per week over the year. Evening and weekend working is required.
