**Job description**:
**An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a special education school in Barnsley as a Healthcare Team Leader on a permanent basis. Greenacre is a special school educating children and young people aged 3-19 with severe and complex needs.**

At Greenacre, Apollo Home Healthcare provide the School Health Team who deliver on-site support to children with a very wide range of ongoing health care needs. The team work closely with the teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral care staff to ensure that children with additional healthcare needs get the support that is required and can participate fully in their education.

The School Health Team provide highly skilled care for to children who have additional healthcare needs, these include:
- Enteral feeding
- Administration of regular and emergency medication
- Diabetes and epilepsy management

The Healthcare Team Leader is a new role, due to service growth and will play a key part in the day-to-day management within school, whilst working closely with Apollo Home Healthcare to achieve the outcomes required when delivering such a specialist service.

**This position is Monday - Friday Term time only 8am - 4pm**

**The position duties include**:

- Co-ordinating healthcare staff to ensure workload is managed effectively.
- Ensuring staff are adhering to process and individual care plans.
- Working closely with the office nursing team to ensure all the school healthcare team are fully trained to deliver the service safely.
- Reviewing of daily records and auditing care delivery.
- Stock control, ordering and management.
- Communicating with parents to ensure that the health care team have the right information to deliver clinical interventions.
- Liaison with other medical professional in relation to children’s healthcare needs.
- Management of emergencies.
- Hands on care supporting the team with the delivery of the clinical tasks.

**Skills & Experience Required**
- Applicants must have previous relevant healthcare experience
- Previous experience of managing/supervising a team
- Ideally experience working hands on with children.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment where they are required to make decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with different types of stakeholders.
- Professional and positive approach
- Flexibility, hard working and honest.
