**About the team**:
Manchester Fashion Institute has secured funding for a project: Back to Baselines in Circular Fashion & Textiles, one of three complementary networks (Future Fibres Network and the IMPACT+ Network) funded by UKRI as part of its circular fashion programme.

The Back to Baselines network is comprised five thematic areas coordinated by a project team at Leeds University. This role will support the work of one of the thematic areas, being led by Professor Liz Barnes, focused on understanding and influencing cultures and behaviours across the fashion and têxtiles ecosystem. WRAP are a key partner in this thematic area.

**About the role**:
The role is to provide support to the research team at Manchester Metropolitan University. It will involve liaising with key partners and stakeholders, including the team at University of Leeds and with WRAP. The main aspects of the work will involve carrying out research (primary and secondary), writing up key findings and disseminating with the project team and more widely across the network. The role will also involve the organising and implementation of research activities, for example organising interviews or discussion groups with consumers and/or industry partners. The post holder will also be required to draw conclusions from the research in order to identify and develop interventions to influence cultures and behaviours.

About you:
The successful applicant will have:

- A good understanding/knowledge/experience of issues relating to circularity of the fashion and têxtiles sector
- A background in academic research e.g. as evidenced through previous work experience or higher degree

Key skills:

- Able to manage multiple stakeholders (including managing ‘up')
- Highly organised and able to keep to deadlines
- Confident in dealing with a range of stakeholders from academia, industry and beyond

Essential Skills:

- Able to carry out primary and secondary research
- Use Microsoft Office suite of programmes (notably PowerPoint, Outlook & Word)
- Able to communicate effectively
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
- Participate in academic meetings and networks that increase the exposure and influence of research.

Desirable:

- A PhD or equivalent industry experience in the fashion and têxtiles sector
- Experience of working in a university environment
- Experience of conducting research e.g. facilitating discussion groups, carrying out interviews etc.
- An understanding of the policy landscape

The role will be based in Manchester, but hybrid/home working is available as there is no need to be on campus every day. Travel will be a key part of the requirement of the role which may on occasion necessitate overnight stays.
