You will take an active role to deliver more from our buildings and explore further opportunities for external funding, joined up working with partners, promoting the wide range of resources and services that libraries offer, delivering value for money and ensuring the service remains relevant, responsive and targeted to our customers’ needs. This is a very varied job role which isn’t just about books and literacy, it’s about staff and resource management, encompassing wider learning, promotion and development of health & wellbeing initiatives, encouraging the use of online technology to our customers, business planning, income generation and future service redesign.

As well as site, stock and staff management, the post will be working on a range of health-related projects helping to evolve the role of libraries with a focus on supporting everyone to be the best they can be.

You will have management responsibilities for several service points within East Riding and for library service support at integrated library & customer services centres.

**Your main roles are to**:

- manage staff, library service points and resources
- develop highly motivated and skilled teams
- support authority wide projects and initiatives
- take responsibility for specific health and wellbeing projects in line with your experience & expertise
- Keep abreast of new developments & resources
- Find new and innovative ways to engage with the community
- Establish and develop effective working relationships within the council and externally

**To achieve this, you will be able to**:

- efficiently plan, manage and co-ordinate the delivery of cost-effective library services
- deliver measurable outcomes
- establish and develop effective working relationships with others
- take responsibility for stock management and maintenance
- develop staff and manage performance
- work on your own initiative and be flexible in your approach
- regularly travel between locations

A degree level qualification is essential and a management qualification would be an advantage.
