**The Butterleigh Inn, Butterleigh, Cullompton, EX15 1PN**

The Butterleigh is a 16th Century Inn located in the village of Butterleigh in the heart of the Mid Devon countryside with easy access to the M5 at Cullompton (J28).

The pub has five letting rooms, a 45-seater restaurant, separate bar area and large kitchen alongside staff accommodation, large gardens and extensive car park.

**The Restaurant Waiter/ Waitress role offers:

**The Ideal Butterleigh Inn Restaurant Waiter/Waitress will**:
Above all you should have good organisational skills, be able to use your own initiative and be able to prioritise effectively. You should be visually alert, have a personality and the confidence to sell and tend to a number of different tables and customers all at once. You should be able to remain calm under pressure and enjoy the hospitality industry.

**Preparing for Great Restaurant Service**

Prepare service stations with glassware, cutlery and crockery pre-service, ensuring they are pristine clean.

Meticulously set up tables, always ensuring that all items on the tables are spotless e.g. glasses polished, cutlery polished, tables wiped and correctly laid up so that our customers have a good impression as they arrive.

**Customer Service**:
Meet and greet customers with a smile and a friendly greeting and escort them to table (taking their coats) if required.

Use appropriate tables where required - children, the elderly, larger groups etc.

Co-ordinate your time effectively to ensure customers are served promptly and that all elements of the dining experience are to the Butterleigh Inn standard.

Always follow the Butterleigh Inn steps of service.

Present menus and wine lists and offer help when required.

Offer menu explanations, explaining menu layout and menu items including ingredients, dish preparation and presentation hi-lighting daily specials and recommending cocktails, wines and other drinks.

Be responsible for taking orders at your tables and correctly inputting orders onto the till systems and be ready to accommodate special requests as required.

Change glassware and cutlery as necessary depending on choice of food and wine.

Remove dishes, glasses and condiments at the end of each course, ensuring that the customer tables are always clean and clutter-free.

Resolve any minor issues or complaints that arise at tables but always communicate any issues with the Manager on duty so that the problem can be dealt with effectively.

Ensure that customers are aware of all menu options throughout the meal.

**Great Communication**:
Attend and contribute to pre-shift team meetings.

Establish a positive and friendly rapport with customers - be yourself

Maintain a positive and proactive relationship with kitchen, bar and reception teams throughout the shift to ensure that the customer’s experience is exemplary.

**Financial Accountability**:
Comply with the cash handling procedures and be responsible for bill settlement correcting and explaining any errors or discrepancies.

Handle voiding, correct and change bills in accordance with the prescribed Butterleigh Inn billing and charging procedure.

Comply with Butterleigh Inn cash-out procedures.

**Other Duties**:
Be familiar with all products that are sold in the bar and restaurant by attending wine, food or any other training as required and be confident to explain dishes and drinks when serving your guests.

Ensure that your timesheets are completed and totalled correctly and that they correspond to the relevant rotas.

Ensure that your attire and presentation are of the highest standards. You should always look your best as first impressions are lasting (please refer to the grooming policy in your employee handbook).

Correctly follow company absence and lateness procedures.

Comply with all Food Hygiene and Fire, Health & Safety and Licensing regulations, attending any training as required by the Company and adhering to all company policies and legislative requirements.
