Head of Nursing

We are offering a unique opportunity for a Head of Nursing (Children) to support our community teams, working alongside our Head of Nursing for Adults, Head of Nursing for Learning Disabilities and Autism and Head of Allied Health Professionals. This post will be integral in shaping the future direction of our community services for children across the town of Trafford and the city of Manchester.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic community children’s Nurse who is able to provide clear, compassionate and inspirational leadership across professional boundaries. The post holder will need to be able to influence and engage with multiple stakeholder partners across the system and possess a clear voice and vision for children, young people, families and staff. They should have excellent communication skills with a record of service delivery, quality improvement and workforce development.
As Head of Nursing, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and professional leadership of the children’s nursing teams that sit within the MLCO/TLCO, ensuring that outstanding standards of care are delivered and supported through the clinical governance framework. You will need to ensure that the care provided across both Local Care Organisations is of a consistently high standard regardless of where the child or young person resides.
You will need to work collaboratively with Primary Care Networks and partners across health and social care boundaries to build upon existing relationships and progress service delivery in order to provide seamless care provision and improve outcomes and children, young peoples and families experience.
You will need to work with colleagues to develop a plan for health visiting, school nursing and children’s nursing, including identifying opportunities for improvement, formalising professional leadership structures and assisting with plans to further integrate children’s services.
You will be part of a senior leadership team which strives to improve the care we deliver for all of the residents of Manchester and Trafford so will lead on a number of corporate objectives, running across all services.

Success in the role will require high levels of tenacity, resilience and self-motivation, together with exceptional influencing and negotiation skills.
