Job Title - Senior Ecologist

**Location**: Hybrid - plus site work -Midlands

**Salary**: up to £42,000 per year depending on skills and experience.

**Hours**: General hours of work are 40 hours per week, between Monday and Friday.

**Licence**: Full clean licence (preferable) up to 6 points

The role of Senior Ecologist sits within Chevron Green Consultancy (CGC), the arboriculture, environmental and ecological division of Chevron Green Services.

Over the past 3 years, CGC have delivered 370 projects and have another 72 delivered or currently being worked on in the forward programme. CGC have delivered an increasing number of projects ranging from £500 to £100k and lasting from 1 day to several months of work.

We have a track record of providing client-focused and high-quality support to infrastructure and construction industries across the UK. Our clients come from a variety of sectors including private dwellings, local authority and major infrastructure projects across the UK.

You'd be joining a friendly and professional team, committed to improving the environment.

Our Ecology and Environment team has a hub in the Midlands, and a hub on the South Coast, with clients all over England, so there's lots of travel and site visits required.

Flexibility and ability to spend nights a always driving to locations and ability to work remotely are key skills which would be essential for this role.

As a Senior Ecologist, you'd spend time leading on a variety of client projects, providing advice, recommendations, and support.

About you

Key skills and qualities we're looking for from our next Senior Ecologist are:
High quality communication skills, both verbal and and written with experience of managing key stakeholders such as;
Wildlife trusts, Environmental health officers, Natural England, Environmental Agency, Lead local flood Authorities.

A passion for the environment and being outside.

Minimum 4 years' experience in an ecological or environmental role.

Self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as part of a small team.

Confidence to be the technical environmental and ecological lead on projects.

Able to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, planning conditions and associated documents to help reduce risks and delays.

Ability to supervise contractors in accordance with protected species licence requirements and environmental protection measures.

Level 2 bat licenced holder (or near to achieving). Experience in using and interpreting bat recording analysis software.

Keen to be involved in mentoring and training of junior team members.

Approachable, proactive, competent, and well organised.

Excellent attention to detail and good report writing skills (including technical report writing skills.

Strong organisational skills, able to manage own workload and that of other team members.

Membership of CIEEM or equivalent (preferable).
