A Contract Officer is required to be responsible for the supervision of operational staff and to provide clear, consistent and quality support to enable efficient delivery of the Council’s high profile customer focussed frontline cleansing service contracts.

Key responsibilities:

- Dealing with the day to day resourcing of the recycling, refuse and street cleansing service contracts to ensure all services are delivered in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Organise and conduct both random and cyclic monitoring of operational staff to ensure they are working within policies and procedures and that all Health and Safety Legislation is complied with.
- Supervising staff, including manual workforce.
- Deal with customer complaints about the service in accordance with council policy and procedures.
- Responsible for monitoring, collating, implementing and reporting national cleanliness indicators or other similar local indicators regarding environmental quality.
- Provide, with Senior Contract Officers, a weekend and bank holiday rota system, ensuring a supervisory presence at all times the contracts are active.
- Liaise with other sections of the council to ensure a high quality service is delivered at all times.
- Assist in the operation of the trade waste service.
- Provide statistical information for the preparation of other performance indicators.
- Provide and participate in a response to emergencies.

**Experience**:

- Experience of supervising staff.
- Experience of monitoring service standards.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience of a contractor / client environment desirable.
- Experience of recording statistical information in a clear and concise manner desirable.
- Sound understanding of the Code of Practice on Litter desirable.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Excellent communication skills.
- Current driving licence.
- A commitment to work within CAN DO values.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).

Full Driving licence, access to a vehicle or access to means of mobility support.
