**We have a fantastic **opportunity** for a Patient **Care** Assistant to join our team here at West End Vets, Edinburgh**

**Full time **position, 40 hours per week**

West End Vets are centrally based small animal clinic with multiple Edinburgh locations. We provide first opinion care for a range of pets from hamsters to tortoises and kittens to Great Danes.

Based at our main practice on Bread Street, you will be working alongside and supporting a close-knit team of 6 vets, 4 nurses and experienced receptionists, providing the highest standards of animal and customer care.

This is a varied role where 2 days will never be the same

Ideally, applicants must have either experience working in a similar role within a Veterinary practice or have a suitable animal handling qualification such as VCA or Animal Care Certificate. Applicants holding certifications as well as veterinary experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

- Setting up for procedures, including emergencies
- Running lab samples including bloods and urine
- Assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment
- Cleaning of instruments, surgical equipment, operating theatre, consult rooms and kennels
- Helping with medication dispensing
- Recovering patients after surgery, walking and feeding.

The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage +3% cost of living increase.
