To undertake the recording and interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECGs), within the department and throughout the hospital as required, under supervision, and independently after a suitable course of training, which will be provided. The postholder will undertake a competency-based training and assessment program within the department for ECG and be able to demonstrate recognition of the main cardiac arrhythmias and basic electrocardiography instrumentation and troubleshooting technical faults. To provide explanation and reassurance to patients undergoing routine non-invasive cardiac investigations and to assist patients with dressing and undressing. To fit and remove ECG ambulatory ECG monitors and event recorders after appropriate training and assessment.

To fit and upload/download event recorders after appropriate training and assessment. To undertake preventative maintenance of ECG and ambulatory ECG recorders and exercise testing equipment. To work under supervision with a team of Cardiographers, Senior Cardiographers and Cardiac Physiologists
