**Maintenance Fitter**

Glas-Seal (NI) Ltd, based at 80 Belfast Road, Ballynahinch, is a glass processor specialising in double glazing units, laminate, toughened glass and CNC work. Established in 1973, Glas-Seal was the first company in Ireland to be awarded the British Standard Kitemark for sealed doubled glazing units and also holds ISO 9001 accreditation.

Due to our continued success, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our successful team:
Reporting to the Director, the person has responsibility for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of company machinery and equipment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that you are aware of all relevant health & safety matters, including risk assessments, and comply with health & safety regulations and wear all appropriate personal protective equipment provided.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on all company equipment and machinery.
- Assist in the development of company maintenance policies and procedures.
- Contact external contractors as required and accompany/assist them while on site.
- Carry out repairs (within capabilities) in relation to buildings, equipment and utilities.
- Review the adequacy of housekeeping and basic maintenance carried out by production operatives. Report any issues to the management team.
- React promptly to breakdowns and communicate with production on the potential impact of the breakdown. Work efficiently to fix the issue.
- Conduct frequent checks on machinery and keep records of all preventative and breakdown maintenance carried out.
- Assist continuous improvement by learning from breakdowns and make improvement recommendations.
- Assist in the specifying, procurement and installation of new machinery. If necessary, assist in the training of operators for safe operation and maintenance of new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with the quality objectives for the maintenance function.
- Ensure that all company property and tools are properly maintained and not removed from the works without management authorisation.
- Ensure that all outside contractors working on site are monitored and that they are aware of and comply with the company health & safety policy and safe systems of work. Where appropriate their risk assessment, method statement and employer’s insurance liability cover should also be checked, prior to commencing any work on site.

Specify and source replacement parts as required in conjunction with the purchasing manager.
