Position:
Fettlers are responsible to work with a variety of materials to remove rough spots, press marks, and defects ready for our customers’ orders. You’ll be grinding, brushing, or scraping surface of metal parts. This will be done with a great deal of precision, following specifications and calculate the dimensions of the welded parts. Smoothing and polishing once completed.

As both a fettler sand welder, you’ll inspect the materials, maintain the equipment you use.

**Requirements**:
Operational Responsibilities:

- Fettling, Grinding, Deburring, Polishing of metal components.
- Fettling components to clean finishes.
- Liaise with Depot Manager to ensure jobs are completed on time.
- Read, understand and be able to work from drawings.
- Clean and maintain work area and equipment.
- Use various hand tools.
- Grinding and finishing materials prior to paint finish
- Working with materials like aluminium, steel and stainless steel
- Removing sharp edges using files, angle grinders and orbital sanders
- Operate within safety guidelines and any operating procedures
- Fabricate new metal components in accordance with product requirements and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance.
- Repair metal components in order to restore full functionality and safety performance.
- Solve problems and develop innovative solutions to novel situations that require a fresh approach while still maintaining required standards of safety, stability, and security.
- Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard. Keep work station clean and orderly to retain a safe and operational work environment.
- Coordinate workflow with other members of the team and third-party agents.
- Execute particular welds in a professional manner, examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Work independently or with a small team of other fettlers/welders to complete projects.
- Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems on a daily basis, in addition to fabrication duties.
- Utilise physical strength and endurance to complete all fettler / welding tasks.

- Plan layouts and procedures
- Able to determine the appropriate welding equipment or machinery to be used
- Set up components for welding
- Be able to align components using callipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Report damages on machines and equipment
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
- You attend and participate in meetings and training sessions that may be necessary in the performance of your duties.
- You may be required to undertake any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time.

You will ideally have:

- 1 years of experience using a variety of equipment, machinery and procedures
- 1 years of experience in using electrical or manual tools
- Have fettling or grinding experience
- Have previous experience working in a metal environment (as a fettler/deburrer/linisher)
- You may also have suitable skills if you have worked as an assembler, grinder, deburrer, metal finisher or linishing

**Job Type**: Temporary contract

**Salary**: £11.00 per hour
