We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Music Therapist for this band 8a, 5 days per week (1 WTE) post.

The role offers the opportunity to work as part of our successful Music Therapy team, and in close collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychological therapists.

The post holder will maintain their own clinical caseload, working with children and young people of all ages, primarily within SEN schools. They will be encouraged to consolidate and develop their skills and clinical interests in a friendly and supportive multi-professional and multi-agency context. The post holder will provide supervision and leadership to other music therapists in the team and lead on aspects of service development.

The post holder will be based at Highpoint House, Shooters Hill and within local schools.

The therapist will hold a caseload of children and young people of all ages with a range of needs and difficulties.

Oxleas works closely with partnership organisations and the post holder will maintain effective relationships with service purchasers to ensure maintenance and development of Service Level Agreements.

Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Overview of the Post

The therapist holds the responsibility of Lead for Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings with the responsibility for the Music Therapy Service Delivery including:
The operational management and music therapy service development in own sections, with particular emphasis on multi-professional liaison with Community Paediatrics, Speech and Language Therapists, CAMHs team, Children’s Centres and Early Years Providers and collaboration with external agencies including health, education, social services and the voluntary sector

The supervision of the other music therapists providing the service within own section and outside of own section

Monitoring the music therapy needs of all children within own sections and allocating resources and staff accordingly

Providing oversight for Music Therapy Service reports in respect of SEN settings, Outreach Services and Core Caseload.

The therapist holds responsibility for managing own clinical caseload at their own section.

Assessing the clients’ clinical needs

Implementing appropriate, highly specialist intervention either in group or individual music therapy or in highly specialist joint intervention groups.

Establishing clear lines of communication in respect of client care within a variety of multi-professional paediatric teams, with specific responsibility to integrate the music therapy service into special schools, including the development and implementation of rolling training programmes for staff.

The caseload will encompass specialist paediatric areas outside of own section including those with:
Emotional difficulties

Psychological difficulties

Social/behavioural difficulties

Communication difficulties

Relationship difficulties

Interagency collaboration will be maintained with specific responsibility for collaboration with SEN settings.

Written music therapy care plans and reports, reflecting highly specialist clinical knowledge, will be circulated as required.
