**Head of Quality Assurance and Testing**

**Hybrid Role**

This is a newly created role that will support Pearson Schools Qualifications and Workforce Skills Qualifications globally. This is a unique opportunity to join a significant and high-profile technology operation whilst driving transformation for the future and deliver an integrated digital business that supports teaching, learning and assessment and qualifications. You will be a top technical expert, and whilst schools, colleges and training providers are our primary customers, you will also need to develop the technology estate and operations to drive consumer value and support learners globally.

**Responsible for**:

- Leading the Quality Assurance and Testing function and building QA and Testing capability for the organisation
- Setting strategy and policy for the test analysis, establishing standards and methods for the team
- Driving continuous improvement, researching new technology and new techniques to implement change
- Lead the QAT practice, focusing on complex problem solving and influencing senior team members
- Designing and delivering user-centered solutions to the market at pace
- Designing and delivering coherent Service Lines (multi-product and multi-system environments) to improve the user experience
- Information management and security of the Portfolios

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**:

- Experience of designing and executing a wide range of testing techniques and communicating test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and deciding on the environment for testing.
- Experience of advising on up-to-date functional testing techniques, assessing and peer-reviewing the work of others and coaching and mentoring others
- Experience of writing test approaches for major projects, providing guidance on risk approaches and of devising new test techniques and recommendations.
- Experience of designing and executing non-functional test cases using standard testing techniques, in instructed environments, suggesting different business scenarios for a feature for the team to work on
- Experience of analysing and collecting information and evidence, identifying problems and opportunities and ensuring recommendations fit with strategic business objectives
- Experience of Test Analysis, think creatively, asking the right questions and critically evaluating and communicating findings
- Experience of leading investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing processes
- Experience of identifying defects, alerting the business to them, and helping to prioritise them based on defect severity
- Knowledge of different tools and techniques, and ability to train, advising others on testing techniques and frameworks. You can effectively research, plan and train others within the team
- Ability to absorb large amounts of conflicting information and use it to determine solutions
- Ability to communicate recommendations persuasively to important stakeholders and identify the simplest of a variety of approaches.
- Ability to work alongside Finance leaders to build compelling business cases for investment
- Practitioner of delivery using Agile methodologies
- Knowledge of qualifications’ customer and user needs
- Knowledge of competitors and the global markets in which Pearson Qualifications Services operate
