**Job Duties**:
We’re looking for a Digital Services Officer to join our digital team, developing new and existing services that are the focus of our new digital strategy.

This role is all about designing excellent digital services for our customers, transforming lives and saving money in the process.

The web and digital team manage Hertfordshire’s website, intranet and digital channels.

We have recently defined our new digital strategy, and we’re looking for a service designer to come in and help us deliver improved services for our customers.

You’ll be joining a small product team working on 3 initial products:

- Automating processes that have the potential to save us time and money that is better channelled elsewhere
- Exploring the potential of artificial intelligence for social work
- Improving how referrals are made to our children’s services team

Beyond those initial projects, you’ll be working on;
- designing new services and products arising from our new digital strategy
- contributing to a number of agile projects to deliver a number of products at any one time
- scoping out requirements for new functionality and tools to do the job
- working with our user research team to identify customer and business needs for improved services

**Additional Information**
The post holder will be part of Hertfordshire County Council’s web and digital team, supporting the new digital strategy. Each day will be different.

We’re still scoping the breadth of projects that this person will be working on, though we know the first 3 areas of focus (listed above).

You will:
Use your digital skills to develop services that meet and delight our customers.
- Deliver digital improvement for Herts residents:

- Work on agile improvement projects as required to achieve our aims
- Ensure projects are designed around the user: commission, interpret and act upon user research
- Prioritise projects to ensure things that deliver the most value are worked on first
- Work with users, colleagues and our key suppliers to prototype, refine and launch digital products which improve our digital delivery. You’ll be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, bridging the boundaries between the two, to make sure users are getting what they need.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to get products that meet the user need delivered.
- Use prototyping to ‘show the thing’ you’re designing for users, refining the design as required and informed by feedback.
- Share best practice, approaches and ideas to fulfil user needs both internally and externally of HCC.
- Monitor the success of products you’ve launched and design and deliver iterative improvements to make them better meet customer needs.
- Recognise the financial, security and policy constraints we work in to provide cost-effective solutions that solve challenges our users face in their daily lives.
