This is a full-time role working in our engineering service and repair centre in Camberley where we manage large scale equipment on behalf of our clients. Reporting to the Service Centre Team Manager, you will be working as part of our team of talented machinists.You will use a wide variety of machine tools to manufacture and repair our customers equipment to the standard expected of us as an international business.
Our teams are versatile and flexible in terms of machine operation, the use of multiple machine tools will be expected at times, though primarily, you will be operating our large scale vertical borer/lathe.
At the Camberley service centre, our vertical lathe/borer is typically used to manufacture brand new components from pre machined castings and has the capabilities to grind both internal and external diameters; therefore, heavily involved in the finishing ofcomponents.
Our engineering drawings come in both varieties: Imperial and Metric in terms of units and first and third angles in terms of orthographic projections.
Key tasks include:

- Primarily using Vertical borer to Machine a wide variety of components.
- Using measuring equipment (imperial and metric).
- Potential operation of a wide range of machine tools, such as: Lathes/mills/cylindrical grinders/borers.
- Interpreting Orthographic drawings (imperial/metric and 1st/3rd Angle)
- Safe handling of medium to heavy duty equipment.
- Safe operation of overhead cranes and usage of lifting equipment (training provided)
- Safe use and balancing of abrasive wheels (training provided)
- Safe use of motorised pedestrian stacker trucks (training provided)
- This is a physically demanding role.
You should have a passion for Mechanical engineering and problem solving. You will have good timekeeping and a respect for deadlines. You work well individually as well as within a team. Additionally, you have professional pride in your work, a keen eye fordetail and strive to maintain and improve our high standards of precision and cleanliness in the workplace. You want to work in a safe and relaxed atmosphere with an open and friendly team.
You should be an experienced Manual Machinist who has ideally completed an appropriate apprenticeship or has accrued relevant experience within a previous role. You have demonstrated knowledge of a range of machine shop related disciplines, and a key understandingof the PPE and H&S requirements typical of a machine shop environment. You have good general IT skills and ideally be used to working on large pieces of equipment and machinery.
