**With 15 employees based at our warehouse in Peterborough we are now looking to bring on board a Warehouse Operative following an internal promotion. The role will involve booking goods in, putting them away, picking and packing orders, stocktaking and other warehouse duties. We store and handle food grade materials in bags and on pallets and so our warehouse is a clean environment where strict observation to hygiene and food handling requirements, as well as good personal hygiene, is essential.**

**We are looking for an energetic, friendly, hard-working individual who enjoys working as part of a team.**

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Offload/load transport vehicles/containers with forklift (including on the road) or manually as required into our multi-tier racking system.
- Booking goods into stock, checking and weighing them and taking samples and labelling.
- Receive goods into stock following sample, check weighing, quality assessment, batch/weight labelling processes. Put away under strict location control.
- Process orders, pick, split, weigh, pack items (powders, leaves etc), build order to match picking list, checking batch correctness etc. Pallet wrap. You must be able to work well and accurately under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Monitoring stock storage conditions - keeping the warehouse clean and tidy, tidying shelves, sweeping and vacuuming dust and debris.
- Optimising space utilisation with a focus on easy locating and working with stock
- Stocktaking.
- Health and safety in the warehouse including checks and maintaining standards.
- Liaising with the sales and purchasing office on stock levels and movement requirements.
- Ensuring the stock system is up to date and accurate.
- Looking for continuous improvement of stock management and ensuring maintenance of good stock condition.
- Reporting to management any potential problems or suggested improvements with SOPs.

Carrying out such general duties as are required from time to time in support of the business operation and supporting all other team members.

Qualifications:

- Basic Maths & English
- Counter balance Forklift or Reach Truck licence
- Full current UK driving licence

Skills and Abilities:

- The job is physically demanding involving long hours of strenuous activity on your feet handling bags that can weigh up to 25kg (sometimes more) so manual dexterity is essential with the ability to stack, push, pull, carry, lift, kneel, crouch, lift above your head and climb stairs to gain access to stock. Consequently, you will be required to demonstrate that you have the necessary physical fitness to ensure that you can meet the constant manual handling activity.
- You must be totally willing and keen to be trained and to follow all procedures and adhere strictly to our health and safety policy, procedures, rules and working practices.
- Commercial awareness, understanding costs, waste, profit etc.
- A good level of numeracy related to money, volumes, weights etc.
- Meticulous and accurate/thorough and careful
- Flexible, dedicated, hard working
- Good sense of humour and kind to others
- Able to work on one’s own but completely a team player who really wants to belong and feel their contribution is recognised and appreciated

Knowledge:

- Familiar with computerised Stock Control, ideally Sage 200 but other packages would suffice provided real experience has been had
- Knowledge of sales, stock holding and distribution activities
- Food environment practices knowledge is desirable

Essential Experience:

- Several year’s demonstrable experience in a warehouse environment
- Counterbalance Forklift or Reach Truck licence.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Confident use of IT for business purposes, including MS Office products
- Good understanding of stock control practices

Core KPIs
- Individual performance, stock accuracy, wastage reduction and warehouse & record tidiness

Remuneration
- Base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance related bonus based on target and over achievement.
- Typical hours currently 08.45 to 16.45 Monday to Thursday with 16.15 finish Friday with an hour for lunch normally and half an hour on Friday.

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£22,000.00 per year
