Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young People is the only hospice in the East Midlands dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment for those with life threatening and life limiting conditions. It is a unique place where they are truly free to express themselves
We are seeking an experienced Youth Worker to join our dedicated team to promote young people’s personal and social development, enabling them to have a voice, influence, and a place in their community. As a Youth Worker you will be offering young people, a safe environment to explore their identity, increase their confidence and provide them with the opportunity to see new places, engage in positive activities and have someone to talk to.
The role will require you to work and travel around the East Midlands to conduct community, and home visits therefore you will need to have access to your own transport. You will also be required to work from the Hospice in Loughborough.
This role is 30 hours a week with some flexibility on days worked to meet the needs of the organisation. There will be the requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends for sessions and events (approx. 1 or 2 weekends a month).
**About the role**
To provide support for all young people aged 13-25 years who access Rainbows Hospice in a variety of different ways that are reflective of their individual needs.
**Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to)**:
- To provide and lead on a range of appropriate activities that provide the young people you are supporting the opportunity to facilitate their personal, social, and educational development.
- To work with young people to advocate their needs and enable empowerment.
- To provide one to one and group support to include emotional, practical, information provision, and bereavement support.
- To work in partnership with the Lead Youth Worker and Transition Team to ensure that services are developed proactively and meet the needs of young people who access the hospice.

**Requirements**:
- Hold a degree or professional qualification in youth work or evidence of training relevant to this post.
- Experience of implementing youth work programmes and activities.
- Evidence of participative face-to-face youth work in centre based, street or other settings.
- Evidence of working with young people with disability, health care or other related needs.
