We are looking for a Section Leader who can ensure that all aspects of Safety is a Condition is maintained and followed in your department plus all KPI and Gap Targets are met, and all Food Safety procedure are followed and carried out.

To maintain training and development for all members of staff in your department ensuring this is documented using the systems provided. To develop and maintain a good working environment and have good communication with the staff and the Management team.

You are required to be ambassadors of the Pilgrims Values.
- Key Accountabilities_
- Must understand the basics of health and safety law including your and your teams’ personal responsibilities
- Must understand their risks and Hazards in your area, understand the risks involved in Manual handling, repetitive task, COSHH, truck movement, job rotation (and how to document), mechanical hazard and machine safety, Electrical safety, working at height protocols and the correct use of PPE.
- Work closely with the departmental H&S reps and H&S manager to generate a culture of Safety is a Condition.
- Ensure your staff understand and adhere to good manual handling practices.
- Ensure all staff under your control use the correct PPE and that it is in a safe condition.
- Report any unsafe acts, equipment, Accidents and near misses to your manager in line with Pilgrims H&S policy (& in a timely manner)
- Able to conduct start up checks and safety tours
- Safety improvement, carry out regular inspections, document and enforce safe systems of work (via the effective writing of SOPs)
- Considers the impact of your actions on the team and others around.
- Emergency procedure management for the areas under your control
- To establish enough Fire Wardens in the department
- To establish enough first aiders in the department
- Accident Investigation training
- Understand the process of Risk assessment (and be able to carry out them)
- Understand and be part of the plan to create behavioural change in the way our staff perceive health and safety in the workplace.
- Lead by example and control all Company Covid protocol
- Skills & Knowledge_
- Food safety Level 3
- Food Integrity Level 2
- HACCP Level 2
- PC Literate
- Self - motivated
