**Health and Safety Lead**

**ROLE OVERVIEW**

Beavertown is looking for a Health & Safety Lead to join our amazing SHE Compliance Department.

This role will lead Beavertown to provide a safe working environment through developing and

implementing frameworks for all employees, contractors, and visitors to work safely on site.

Using your knowledge of health and safety regulations, legislation and standards, strong people and

communication skills, and demonstrable passion for their area of expertise, you will safeguard the

team and sites against health and safety risks.

You will also be collaborating with all members of the wider team to create, implement, upkeep and

validate safe ways of working and will support the SHE Compliance Department in incident reporting

and documentation to support the production of great quality beer that satisfies our customers and

consumers.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Lead by example, promote and demonstrate beliefs and mission of Beavertown Brewery.

Implement, manage and report on Beavertown Health & Safety as part of a holistic safety management system, in alignment with production processes and business needs, that aims to achieve safety excellence. This is inclusive of:

- Safety Plan for Beavertown Brewery
- Produce and maintain risk assessments and method statements which sufficiently identify hazards and evaluate and prioritise risks with appropriate counter/control measures with the input and collaboration of local experts.
- Lead safety walk arounds, audits and inspections as engagement opportunities on the floor across all sites, making use of facts and evidence and issuing recommendations to sustain safety excellence.
- Regular review and management of Safety Action Tracker
- Ensure all statutory requirements and local safety rules, standards and procedures are understood and systems to ensure compliance are developed and/or maintained. Communicate efficiently with the wider team to providing support and guidance on implementation of these standards and controls in line with HSE and other regulations and advice including any critical changes or updates
- Lead on achievement of appropriate Health & Safety certification or accreditation for all sites and support where Health & Safety input is required for other certifications or accreditations.
- Report on H&S KPIs with a focus on continual improvement (preparation of weekly reports and monthly/annual KPI reports).
- Data analysis - identify trends in KPIs and develop programs to address shortcomings
- Implementation and validation of health and safety related processes (safety observation and incident reporting, first aid, PPE standards etc.) including continuous improvements in line with internal and external standards.
- Accident & Incident Investigation (RCA) with a focus on prevention and learning.
- Review incidents with affected individuals and team leads including production of occupational health assessments with employees where required and in support of the People function.
- Act as a reference point for problem solving in safety to support individuals to undertake their roles and responsibilities safely.
- Manage and where appropriate develop emergency response programs.
- Support managers and staff throughout the business to ensure safe operations by building knowledge and confidence in Health & Safety, making Health & Safety simple, relevant, accessible and enabling for all
- Work closely with Operational Leads and beyond to evaluate health and safety engagement and implement cultural improvements.
- Host and lead quarterly Health & Safety Committee Meetings with representatives from all teams throughout the business to provide a forum for raising and resolving concerns of the wider business in relation to safety.
- Manage and maintaining positive third party contractor and visitor relationships in relation to health and safety concerns including contractor and visitor onboarding, training and monitoring to create safety accountability and support compliance.
- Lead on development and provision of professional Health and Safety related training and refresher training including new starter inductions.
- Procurement, distribution and issuance of personal protective equipment
- Review documentation and processes with regards to health and safety aspects and share responsibility for Control Documents system as part of the wider Quality Management System
- Complete short term Health and Safety projects within the team
- Consult with other teams within the business on CAPEX and improvement projects in consideration of Health and Safety aspects
- Co-ordinate with SHE Compliance Manager on relationships with contractors/service providers and other teams within the business in developing and maintaining SLAs that outline Health and Safety expectations
