**Monday - Thurs 8.00am - 4.45pm, Friday 8.00am - 12.30pm**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this highly successful privately owned, forward-thinking, fast-moving Bed and Mattress Manufacturer.

With a varied portfolio currently within the Contract Sector, the business has gone from strength to strength with impressive growth and now looking to expanding further.

This role will be pivotal to the future growth and profitability of the business and the successful applicant will enjoy levels of autonomy in spearheading what suppliers to use and keep abreast of competitor pricing.

**About You**

A working knowledge of the mattress/bed industry would be advantageous but not essential. 1-2 years previous experience of working within a Purchasing/Buying role within manufacturing is a must. You will be tenacious, self-motivated and have the ability to deliver cost saving initiatives, increase on profit margins without compromise to quality.

This role will allow the individual to be creative and suggest alternative methods of driving the business forward aligned with purchasing and controlling costs.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensure all raw material/products purchased are authorised and consistently aligned with forecast and company spend
- Optimise stock control and forward planning with trends, peaks, troughs, and logical cost saving incentives without jeopardising productivity
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers
- Keep abreast of pricing and alternative methods of acquiring demanding products
- Consistently keeping market costs at the forefront of the business with monthly checks
- Sourcing alternative suppliers benchmarking quality, cost, and compliance
- Agree payment terms improving cash flow
- Liaising closely with the MD and Operations Director to facilitate the above tasks
- Visit overseas and UK Suppliers with Directors and attend relevant trade shows
- Understand compliance, quality, and standards
- Liaison with Production Manager to ensure product standards are being met and reviewed regularly to pass onto suppliers where necessary
- Working closely with the Production Manager in future proofing concerns with stock, quality, and business demands
- Submit monthly spend reports
- Provide cost saving initiatives, consistently looking to improve spend for the good of the business
- A good working knowledge of buying from overseas would be advantageous

**Skills**
- Fully proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal

- Analytical and accurate with excellent eye for detail

- Ability to meet strict deadlines and handle change
