**Job Title: Casual Adoption Panel Chair**

**Salary Range**: £400 per panel - panel runs in the morning for around 4 hours.

**Role Overview**:
We are seeking to appoint casual Panel Chairs for Adopt South's Adoption Panels to chair meetings, such as disruption meetings and panel meetings.

With a proven ability to ensure disruption meetings and panels function within a clear anti-discriminatory framework you will be able to demonstrate expertise in childcare planning and child development, a detailed and up to date knowledge of the legislativeframework for adoption and a comprehensive understanding of the national standards, relevant performance indicators and current good practice initiatives.

Adopt South have strong core values, and our disruption meetings and panels offer independent scrutiny and quality assurance to the adoption agency and our partner local authorities, with a focus on meeting the needs of children who cannot live with theirbirth family.

**Role Responsibilities**:
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to put prospective and approved adopters at ease, whilst also ensuring panel functions are adhered to, through sound and responsible decision making. Alongside the ability to make an assessment basedon the written and oral information presented to the panel, in order to make a recommendation in a balanced and informed way. You will be well prepared and have the ability to manage complex issues sensitively whilst ensuring clear recording of decision makingis undertaken. You will work closely with the Agency and Panel Advisors to ensure quality assurance issues are raised and responded to in a timely way. Applicants should have experience either professionally, personally, or both of the placement of childrenin adoptive families, or of children being away from their birth family. This can include work in; education, health, as an adopter or having personal experience of being looked after.

**Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- A sound understanding of the adoption process.
- The authority and competence to chair meetings.
- The ability to analyse and explain complex information.
- The ability to identify key issues, problems and resolutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Substantial experience and expertise in chairing complex meetings.
