Do you want to work for a FTSE 100 Company in the north west of England? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Pension Support Specialist to join our in-house pensions team at United Utilities (UU).

You'll provide technical support to UU and the trustees of the pension schemes to ensure the correct running of the UU pension arrangements, with focus on complex cases including deaths, ill-health retirements and complaints.

**Job Accountabilities**:

- Co-ordinating discretionary cases for the trustees (e.g. on ill-health and death), dealing sensitively with impacted members (and their families where appropriate)
- Co-ordinating the resolution of escalated complaints, in accordance with the trustees' complaint procedure
- Answering complex queries from members, helping them to understand their pensions
- Identifying ways to improve the member experience for key stages of their retirement journey
- General support to the UU pension schemes such as attendance at trustee meetings, assisting with communications and ad hoc projects
- Liaising with external pension scheme administrators and with other internal departments such as HR, finance and payroll.
- Supporting the Head of Pensions with company-related pensions activities, such as preparation for (and taking minutes at), meetings of UU‘s pensions governance committee

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- A good understanding of the running of UK pension arrangements, both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution
- A professional pensions qualification (Professional Membership of Pensions Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent) is desirable
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, being able to deal with complex member cases sensitively
- Good Microsoft Office skills, in particular Outlook, excel, word and PowerPoint
- Proven experience of working in pensions
