Church Hill Surgery are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our surgery

This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to both the clinical and practice management teams. As post holder, you will act as a point of contact for all communications between the patients, relatives, clinicians and outside agencies so we require someone with good communication skills, a polite telephone manner and a positive and caring approach to their work.

**The main responsibilities of the role include**:
Providing a full secretarial service including:

- Audio, copy typing and word processing for all GPs, Health Professionals and management, as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc in an accurate and quality manner;
- To receiving incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries;
- To receive incoming and deal with outgoing mail;
- Responsible for the Electronic Referral System;
- To retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records;
- Handling patient/practice queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments confidentially;
- Ensuring any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with according to practice policy and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately;
- Liaising and arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required;
- Maintaining the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner;
- Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information when required;
- Performing any reasonable administrative tasks as requested by the Practice or Deputy Practice Manager.

**You will have the following skills and experience**:

- Strong audio and touch typing skills;
- Administrative experience and good organisation skills;
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology;
- Proficiency in the MS Office package as well as excellent IT skills and experience of working with a computerised clinical system;
- Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation;
- Ability to ' think on your feet' working in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach; with ability to be flexible and adapt to change
- Ability to understand the need to maintain confidentiality and data security at all times;
- Ability to multi-task and to work accurately with good attention to detail under pressure;
- Ability to work in a team as well as being comfortable working independently using own initiative to progress workload proactively

We also operate SystmOne clinical software

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £11.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
