Muddy Boots - Nursery Porter
A Nursery Porter, works in a childcare setting to create a safe, educational, and fun environment for young children. Their duties include helping maintain a clean and organised environment, ensuring safety in the facility and interacting with young children.
The duties and responsibilities of a Porter vary depending on the size of the setting, the children in attendance, and the needs of the staff team as a whole. Some of the day-to-day tasks may include:
- Keeping the lobbies and communal areas clean, clear and welcoming.
- Housekeeping, such as cleaning up after messy activities, hoovering, washing dishes, keeping the kitchens clean.
- Handling certain maintenance jobs, such as identifying broken equipment and requesting replacements or repairing if possible (sticking pages back in books).
- Ensuring bags and belongings are probably stored, tagged and passed back to the right child.
- Supporting nursery assistants, reading stories at group times, leading song time, sitting at activities and supervising play.
- Helping parents with missing items, storing buggies and car seats safely, supporting parents on pick up and drop off if assistance is needed.
- Responding to parents request to ensure the children are comfortable throughout the day. Ensuring bottles are prepped and ready at set times, cradling children to sleep if needed, managing sleep schedules if different to the ‘norm’.
- Running errands.
- Ensuring the safety of children by, for instance, placing and removing signage that indicates wet floors or paint.
- Playing with the children to scaffold learning and encourage positive interactions.
- Act as a positive role model, always demonstrating professional and friendly behaviour.
- Support the rest of the work team to always achieve Outstanding outcomes.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 38 per week
**Salary**: £14,925.07-£25,565.05 per year
