Our Maternity team at Ipswich Hospital are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Ward Clerk to join our busy Maternity Unit. You will actively participate as a full member of the team, assisting in the smooth running of the unit by managing the reception and administrative functions in an effective and timely manner.

This post is both challenging and rewarding. We are looking for someone with a calm and compassionate nature, who is able to work autonomously and work well within a team. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be speaking with members of the public both face-to-face and over the telephone.

You will need to be computer literate and provide support to the midwives and maternity care assistants to ensure the smooth running of the unit.

We currently have full time and part time positions available in the team where we operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

You will provide an efficient ward clerk service to patients and visitors attending the ward and support the appropriate staff within the Maternity unit.

You will be responsible for receiving all routine and emergency patients for admission.

You will request and collect case notes as required for emergency admissions.

You will advise the senior midwife on call of all unannounced admissions and ensure that, where necessary, patients are escorted to the ward.
