You will lead and manage relationships with appropriate Faculty research Representatives
to enable repository interactions and provide guidance and advocacy in relation to scholarly
communications.

Working collaboratively with the Research Support Office within the Enterprise and
Innovation Directorate to support the objectives of the Research and Knowledge Exchange
Plan.

Based in University Library Services you will develop and provide guidance on open access
publication, research data management, bibliometric services, and researchers’ skills
development.

**Key Responsibilities**
**and Accountabilities**:

- Develop the repository system through liaison with external suppliers and internal

stakeholders.
- Ensure an effective workflow is in place to provide a record of university research

outputs, including recording of evidence to support impact, patents, and practice-based
outputs.
- To liaise and work with the Research Support and Repository Coordinator to process

and disseminate the University research outputs through the Institutional Repository
(SURE).
- Liaise with colleagues across the institution as an advocate for effective scholarly

communications and instill best practices across academic departments, Faculties and
other relevant professional services.
- Liaise and work with Library teams including the Academic Liaison Team to support the
- Faculty research community.- Manage compliance with requirements of external funding bodies, Research Excellence

Framework (REF) and Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), including open access
publishing and effective management of research data.
- Represent Library Services on the University’s Research Governance, Integrity and

Ethics Group, contributing to the development of institutional policy in relation to

research information management and scholarly communications.
- Interpret publisher copyright licensing agreements to ensure opportunities for open

access publishing are managed effectively and adherence to publisher copyright
requirements.
- Develop guidance and provide specialist support to University staff on effective research

information management and publishing, including Open Access, copyright, research
data management, scholarly publishing and bibliometrics.
- Work collaboratively with the Research Support Office to design and deliver effective

training programmes as part of the Research and Knowledge Exchange staff
development programme to ensure researchers develop appropriate knowledge and
skills throughout the research lifecycle.
- Collaborate effectively and proactively with the central Research Support Office to

support the development and delivery of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Plan.
- Monitor sector trends and national policy in scholarly communications and undertake

research on relevant developments that can then be applied to University practice.
- Engage with external stakeholders and represent the University at appropriate sector

wide working groups.
- Represent University Library Services at appropriate internal and sector-wide working

groups aligned to the delivery of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Plan.
- Ensure developments are regularly disseminated across the institution through

contribution to wider ongoing research communications via Research and Knowledge
Exchange SharePoint and collaborate in the production of regular communications e.g.
regular research newsletters and briefings to the Research and Knowledge Plan to
Research and Innovation Group.

**Circumstances**:
A flexible approach to work depending on service needs, including attendance at
Open Days and relevant events, some local and national travel which may require
early starts and/or late finishes and/or overnight stays.
Regular evening working and occasional weekend working on a shared rota basis
as required.
You will be required to work on campus and from home in line with service needs
and the University Agile Working Policy.

- Educated to degree level, or equivalent qualifications or experience.

**Experience**:

- Experience working in a similar role(s) in a Higher Education context.
- Demonstrable experience in scheduling and managing complex information and

projects including the flexibility to amend and adapt plans.
- Evidenced experience of supporting the academic community and providing

appropriate support to deliver the University’s REF submission, data and
evidence.
- Experience of working with an Institutional Repository.

- Excellent interpersonal skills including: the ability to work collaboratively and

supportively with colleagues, the confidence to work directly with senior staff of
the University and to provide advice and guidance to all levels of staff.
