Trainee Machine Operator

**GENERAL ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Set, maintain and monitor soap making machines to make sure they operate efficiently**.

As a setter you will have previous experience in setting machines and equipment, selecting and utilising various tools and dies, gathering data, keeping records, and monitoring the operations of machines. You may also conduct maintenance checks, troubleshoot errors, perform basic repairs and adjustments and produce reports for managers. You will be mechanically minded and work within a team environment; open and transparent communication for efficient workflow is essential.

Responsibilities include reducing the need to contact engineers to set up, prep and fix the line and operating them directly to ensure efficiently.

Note: This is a physical role so physical fitness is essential.

**SPECIFIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Line Setting and Basic Maintenance**
- Setting of the lines including cutters, stampers, flow wrapper, boxers and over wrappers (bar soap) and liquid filling line setting.
- Contacting an engineer for anything which can’t be fixed during breakdowns
- Training of staff to ensure smooth running of the line
- Performing basic maintenance tasks as requested and agreed with engineering
- Management of QC, production and engineering record

**Production Line Efficiencies**
- Weekly production planning (ensuring correct raw and packaging materials and are able to set the line accordingly).
- Oversee line set-up and ensure change-overs are completed efficiently.
- Assisting with supervising Production Operatives.
- Problem solving and fault finding
- Ensuring line efficiencies and achieving daily KPIs and Quality Standards.
- Delivering effective communication with other Supervisors, Engineers and Quality Control team.

**Product Mixing and Quality Control**
- Based on weekly production meeting planning, ensure that the technical specifications are accurate.
- Prep all raw materials to undertake mixing to specification.
- Ensure all products are manufactured in accordance to the production schedule on a daily and weekly basis.
- Ensure ongoing adherence to the cleaning schedules and safety standards.
- Attention to detail and paperwork completion are essential.

**PERSONAL EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ and ATTITUDE**

**ONLY APPLY **if you have **previous Setter or Fitter **experience in a manufacturing facility. You must also have:

- Previous experience as a machine setter or similar role (minimum 2 years)
- Fork Lift Truck license (preferred)
- An eye for detail and good communication skills
- Keen problem solver and well versed in setting up machines in a manufacturing environment
- Diligent - be a completer/ finisher & task orientated
- Keen eye for manufacturing excellence
- Hardworking ethic / self-starter, good physical fitness.
- Conscientious and good timekeeping
- In good physical shape as this can be a fast-paced job involving some lifting.
- As a more senior individual on the shop-floor, you are responsible for identifying and raising improvements to production to senior management as appropriate.

**HOURS OF WORK**
- (Monday to Thursday) 7:30am to 5pm, Friday (7:30 to 5pm).
- Note: one day per week (Monday to Thursday only), you will work a later shift 11:30am to 9pm instead of 7:30 to 5pm. Ability to work flexible hours, is essential.
