**Deputy Leader - Guildford Youth**

**Job Type**: Part Time, 10 hours per week (including Saturdays and school holidays)

**Salary**: £11.90 per hour

Our client is an independent children’s charity that gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to play, have fun, and make friends in a safe and supportive environment.

The charity have been passionate champions of inclusion since they were established in 1979, and more than 40 years on, the charity has grown to support thousands of disabled children and young people across the South of England.

**The Role**

The charity is searching for an engaging and passionate Deputy Leader to join their Guildford Youth Schemes. Supported by their dedicated team of Operation Managers, you will plan and deliver a range of exciting and engaging activities to a group of inspiringyoung people (ages 13-18)

**Responsibilities**:

- The Deputy will support the Leader to research and inspire fun and creative activities that excite and 'wow’ children.
- The Deputy will support the Leader to identify toys and equipment to facilitate activities.
- The Deputy will support the Leader to provide and maintain a physical environment that is cared for, respected and valued by children, staff and visitors.
- The Deputy will support the Leader to manage a team of staff who are often young themselves.
- The Deputy, with the Leader, will support a staff team to deliver a supportive environment where children feel confident, happy and able to challenge their limits.

**Personal Specification**:

- Able to demonstrate the skills necessary for staff supervision and to organise and undertake a range of administrative and liaison duties. Previous experience of leadership, in a similar situation, would be desirable.
- It is desirable that applicants have a Level 3 Qualification in Play, Youth Work or Early Years of relevant qualification.
- The ability to plan creative and stimulating work programs, lead, motivate, support and supervise staff, and delegate work to other team members, in support of the Leader.
- Able to show a capacity to work in, and assist leading, a small team, be adaptable and able to work in a disciplined way in an informal working environment.
- An understanding and appreciation of the experience of disabled, young people and their families.
- The applicant must demonstrate a physical and emotional capacity for the enthusiasm and energy that children require of their playmates - be prepared to be a playmate, support and/or facilitate a child or young person’s inclusion in activities and providephysical care and supervision and get to know the children and young people who attend the charity's schemes.
- First Aid qualification is desirable or a willingness to be trained.
