**Head Housekeeper**

**Line Management**
- The Head Housekeeper will be responsible to and appraised by the Facilities Director.

**Mission and Identity**
- Actively promote the College’s mission and identity as set out in the Stonyhurst mission statement.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**:
Cleaning:

- Ensure all areas of the College and St Mary’s Hall are cleaned to the highest standard.
- Set and monitor standards of cleanliness across the campus and undertake regular reviews of all areas of the campus, including boarding houses. Determine cleaning frequencies and plan periodic deep cleaning.
- Ensure that reactive and unplanned cleaning is undertaken in a timely manner.
- Manage the laundry operation ensuring that all pupil washing and bedding is laundered and returned in a timely cycle.
- Work closely with Houseparent’s to continually monitor and improve housekeeping and cleaning services in boarding houses.
- Control the housekeeping stores and consumable stocks, ensuring efficient issue of items and that adequate stocks are maintained through regular stock takes
- Oversee resident staff accommodation inventories, cleaning, and audits.

Staff Management:

- Assist with developing a housekeeping strategy which underpins the long-term plan for facilities use and ensures that all areas of the campus are adequately staffed.
- To provide daily management of the College and St Mary’s Hall domestic staff work routines, providing both supervision, cover and support as required
- Monitoring and managing departmental staff absence and conducting return to work interviews
- Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all relevant documentation relating to time
- keeping, holidays, sickness absence, other authorised absence, TOIL, training undertaken etc
- To liaise with local education providers to enrol new staff onto the appropriate NVQ training as soon as possible following the commencement of employment.
- To work with the HR Department on the recruitment and selection needs for each area, ensuring a compliant and safe recruitment process at all times
- Create, maintain, and regularly review risk assessments for all tasks undertaken by domestic, porterage, transport and laundry staff, ensuring staff are provided with appropriate guidance and training.

General Management:

- Work in partnership with Experiences Department and ensure adequate staffing is in place throughout the year for special events and out-of-term activities, including Great Academies,

Parents’ Weekends, Lettings etc
- To comply at all times with the Health and Safety regulations and policies and to coordinate a comprehensive Department Induction and training programme for new domestic, laundry, porterage and transport staff including Health and Safety awareness.
- To work in partnership with the Facilities Director on H&S and Security matters.
- To be aware of and report to the relevant department any damage to equipment or to the fabric of the building
- To coordinate the maintenance, repair, and replacement of domestic equipment
- To arrange the movement of furniture and equipment within the College as required
- To manage the provisions of furniture and soft furnishings in the College as appropriate
- To manage all on-site accommodation, including regular checks on residential staff flats
- To co-ordinate the movement of residential staff, liaising with new and existing staff as required.
- To work under the direction of the Facilities Director on refurbishment and renovation projects
- To work with the Domestic Manager and Supervisor and Laundry Manager to provide an efficient and effective campus wide service
- To be responsible to Facilities Director for the annual budgetary controls
- Oversight and management of Housekeeping budget, including leasing of equipment and laundry machines
- Review service contracts, such as waste disposal, and suppliers regularly to ensure goods, equipment and arrangements meet the needs of the school and deliver best value for money
- Build a strong working relationship with the Financial Director and Commercial Director to ensure effective and efficient planning and delivery of in-house projects
- Responsibility for the cleaning upkeep of furniture, floor coverings and fittings, including curtains and blinds across the Campus. Co-ordinate the repair or replacement if damaged with fire retardant fabrics. Work closely with the Facilities Director to identify solutions within agreed budgets.
- To undertake appropriate training as required to carry out the responsibilities of the role effectively
- In conjunction with all staff, to support, promote and act within the Safeguarding Policy
