**Job Purpose**: The post holder will liaise with the Clinical Librarian on the Outreach Service and work closely with them. The post holder will then be responsible for delivering an Outreach Service including searches, inductions and training services. This service will include outreach to departments and hospitals as appropriate. Similar services will be developed for clinical and non-clinical staff.

The post will play a vital role in the provision of quality filtered and evaluated research evidence directly to health professionals to support decision making and will support evidence-based practice, teaching, learning, continuing professional development and research. The post will involve the delivering training programmes in evidence-based information seeking and the delivery of these programmes as well as representing Library and Knowledge Services at Trust and departmental inductions. The post holder will oversee and manage the site and staff at Kidderminster Education centre, currently consisting of two paraprofessional staff members. Key Duties: Outreach services Work closely with the Clinical Librarian in the development and delivery of outreach librarian services Responsible for the delivery of expert searches, targeted current awareness and critical appraisal services for clinical, senior managerial and commissioning staff.

**This involves**: oWorking as a member of selected multi-disciplinary trust-wide clinical teams to provide highly specific, patient centred and evaluated information at the time and place of need; oUsing critical appraisal skills to select and evaluate relevant information, and expert knowledge of searching online databases to perform mediated literature searches; oExamining how the information provided is disseminated within departments and reporting how the clinical team acts upon the information. Develop proactive anticipatory alerting and professional updating services such as production of electronic current awareness bulletins and supply of contents tables to maintain users awareness of current developments in their field. Effectively market and promote services to users, monitoring the effectiveness of initiatives using both qualitative and qualitative measuring techniques, e.g. audits, surveys, focus group meetings, and producing reports.

Help maintain internet and intranet pages to publicise and provide access to outreach services provided. In conjunction with colleagues, investigate the possibilities of using new technology in enhancing access to the knowledge base. Deliver other specialist services with non-clinical partners e.g. Procurement, commissioning groups and operational procedures.

Conduct surveys to determine user needs according to policies and procedures. Provision of User Training and other Evidence-based Services Provide evidence-based literature searches accompanied by oA summary of the results listing the databases searched and highlighting the evidence found oFull text articles when appropriate. Working with the Deputy and Clinical Librarian develop, promote and deliver user training programmes in evidence-based information seeking, literature searching and critical appraisal; Develop, promote, and deliver induction programmes to all staff and students, to complement Trust induction programmes. Assist in organising print and electronic knowledge resources using nationally recognised professional cataloguing and indexing techniques to ensure effective information retrieval.

This includes developing taxonomies for electronic document management. Assist with the NCRS Registration Authority for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in the registration and issuing of smartcards. Site and staff Management Oversee the running of the Kidderminster Education Centre oordering stationery and equipment as required oproviding statistics of use Support the administrative duties of the Library & Informatics Assistant/ Learning Centre Administrator in: otaking room bookings and general enquiries oassisting trainers and visitors in their use of the centre In the absence of the Library & Informatics Assistant/ Learning Centre Administrator: oproduce a weekly schedule of events oset up audio/visual equipment and video-conferencing facilities for training events oliaise with departments that support the working of the centre, e.g. housekeeping, catering, estates and portering.

Line manage the paraprofessional staff at Kidderminster Education centre by oEnsuring appropriate personal and professional development opportunities are available. That includes conducting annual personal development reviews (PDRs) and the setting of personal and team objectives supported by personal development plans. oEnsuring that all mandatory training is undertaken. oMonitoring the level and standard of work undertaken by and guide, coach and advice as appropriate.
