Reinsurance Pricing & Reserving Actuary

Are you a recently qualified Actuary with experience in general insurance reserving and/or pricing?

Tempest Re International is the part of Chubb Insurance responsible for underwriting risks outside the US, Canada and Bermuda. We utilize a range of legal entity papers available within the wider Chubb Group and operate from London and Zurich. We currently write approx. $200m of proportional and non-proportional treaty business across a range of classes including Motor, Casualty, Property, Professional Liability, Management Liability, Marine, Energy and Structured. We aim to grow by seeing opportunities within a reasonably broad geographical region and execute upon those in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Reporting to the Chief Actuary for Tempest Re International this role takes ownership for the Motor line of business with approximately 50% of the role focussing on pricing and 50% reserving and SII. Supporting other Lines of Business (LOBs) is also required to help with pricing depending on the demand at given points in the year.

**Key responsibilities**:
**Pricing**:
Make a professional determination of the expected claims from individual treaty exposures and assess profitability of offered or proposed quoted terms.
Support underwriters in negotiating of treaty terms and programme structures.
Contribute to improving current pricing tools and processes
Manage inflow of pricing work and expectations from underwriters/management
Identify and carry out benchmarking projects for Motor LOB

**Reserving & Reporting**:
Monitor and report on how the actual experience compare to pricing and plan
Setting of actuarial best estimates for outstanding liabilities
Propose reserve actions to management.
Report premiums and results to legal entities and segment/Group.
Contribute in improving the current reserving and reporting processes

**Planning**:
Assist underwriters and management to develop clear plans for the future as each year we provide the Group with a high level five year plan and a detailed one year plan. Actuaries are involved in testing proposed plans through bridging loss and acquisition ratios to the in-force portfolio statistics

**Solvency II**:
Assisting in the parameterization of underwriting and reserve risk for business
Assist in calculation of technical provisions and carry out validation testing

**Qualifications**:
Key skills & requirements

Newly qualified UK Actuary with General Insurance experience
Reinsurance and Insurance experience will be considered equally.
Ability to work independently demonstrating strong negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.
Advance user of Excel required
SQL experience preferred but not essential
