**As a Senior Health and Safety Officer, you will be expected to**:

- assist in the development and embedding of a positive, proactive and visible health and safety culture across all areas of the organisation
- assist the Group in implementing the measures necessary to comply with the statutoryhealth and safety framework, other relevant safety legislation and best practice in relation to the health and safety of employees and others who may be affected by theGroup’s undertakings
- be the day-to-day lead and first point of contact for all New Build Health & Safety functions, including the development and implementation of required Systems or Processes
- Line Manage Health & Safety Officer and/or Coordinator as required
- assist in the development, implementation and management of the health and safety strategy and Policy, in line with legislative obligations whilst ensuring the Group’s health and safety management system continues to meet the requirements of OHSAS18001to support these
- assist with the development and implementation of the Group’s environmental and waste management strategy
- ensure that all policies and procedures are developed in line with the integrated management system to ensure compliance with the standards for OHSAS18001, ISO9001 and ISO14001
- assist in the development and implementationof safe systems of work and safe operating procedures for the provision and use of all relevant work equipment, machinery and plant
- advise Directors and Managers on appropriate arrangements for the effective consultation, planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of the preventive and protective measures necessary to comply with the relevant statutory provisions
- ensure that support, advice and the provision of necessary information is given to project teams and appointed Principal Designers and/or CDM Client Advisorsto ensure effective compliance with CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations and toensure that an effective system for monitoring the health and safety performance of works and contractors is in place
- conduct inspections and risk assessments with a view to identifying and advising on the elimination or control of the risks to health and safety. To ensure risk assessments are reviewed as required by statutory obligations
- provide support and advice to Directors and Managers in relation to the selection, installation, use and maintenance of work equipment, machinery and plant
- work with the People and Learning Team to determine appropriate levels of health and safety training for each post within the Group. To deliver or arrange the provision of comprehensive health and safety training as appropriate
- assist where required with the approval and monitoring of contractors and suppliers
- provide specialist and technical health and safety advice as required on appropriate plant, tools, equipment, personal protective equipment, and substance

**To be successful in aSenior Health and Safety Officer role, the skills you will need**:

- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and SafetyorNEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
- Minimum three years’ experience in a health and safety role
- Experience of practical implementation of CDM regulations
- Experience in a health and safety environment, developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures
- Experience of conducting comprehensive inspections, audits and risk assessments (inc. fire, COSHH etc.)
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation/compliance
- Knowledge of health and safety pertaining towarehousing, construction, and maintenance services, including CDM Regulations
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads in a target driven culture and to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment
- Excellent ICT skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and ability to quickly adapt to bespoke software packages
- Excellent interpersonal and communicationskills.Demonstrate ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues effectively and objectively
- Full driving license and own vehicle. Willing to use own vehicle for business use (will also require business user car insurance)
- Ability to work from home if required
